"This woman is a VIP. If you're dissatisfied, you're welcome to leave at any time, and we'll process a full refund."
Clara glared at her, jabbing a finger toward the Jasmine Suite.
"A refund isn't going to cut it! I want her to apologize to me."
Autumn's smile didn't waver.
"I'm sorry, but she is our VIP. Even if we had to close our doors forever, we would never force her to apologize to you."
Clara's voice cracked with pure rage.
"What? Is she royalty? Why are you worshipping her like this?"
Autumn kept smiling.
"Ma'am, you're free to think whatever you like."
Clara's face flushed crimson, all her furious energy absorbed like a punch hitting a cotton ball.
At that moment, Sasha strolled down the corridor and grabbed Clara's arm.
"Clara, let it go. They clearly have connections. We're on their turf, so we just have to swallow it. It's not our fault we don't have that kind of leverage."
Those words precisely hit Clara's deepest insecurity.
"Why should I? I got to where I am on my own merit! And Sienna? She slept her way to the top, coasting on special privileges and ruining the integrity of our entire profession! That shameless slut!"
"Ma'am, watch your mouth. If you keep causing a scene and spreading defamatory rumors, I'm calling the police," Autumn said, her smile vanishing.
"Call them! Maybe they'll finally investigate Sienna while they're at it!" Clara's eyes were bloodshot, her voice rising an octave.
Ever since her dismissal from Mercy, Clara had been spiraling.
She had poured everything into preparing for this civil service exam, only to find out the ghost of Sienna Sterling was haunting her even here. It wasn't fair.
Sasha stood by the stairwell, gripping her phone. The screen displayed a fresh text: "He just walked into the lobby."
She glanced down.
Sure enough, a familiar figure had just stepped through the main entrance.
Taking a deep breath, she pitched her voice high enough to ensure Finn would hear her.
"Don't you dare bring up Mercy!" Clara shrieked. "You're nothing but a cheap whore who's been passed around—"
"Clara," Sienna cut her off, her voice quiet but lethal. "You're a highly educated woman. Aren't you embarrassed letting that kind of garbage come out of your mouth?"
"My manners depend on who I'm talking to! Trash like you doesn't deserve respect!"
Suddenly, Sasha hurried over, wedging herself between the two women.
She grabbed Sienna's wrist, her tone laced with frantic sincerity.
"Sienna, I'm so sorry. I brought Clara here today. I had no idea she would..."
"Let go." Sienna frowned, yanking her arm back.
As if propelled by the force of Sienna pulling away, Sasha suddenly lost her balance, her entire body pitching backward toward the top of the stairs.
Autumn screamed in horror.
Everyone's eyes followed the motion.
Sienna looked over as well...
