Penny's voice hitched.
Sienna refused to look at her.
Her eyes were glued to a random page in the chart, her fingers gripping the clipboard so tightly her knuckles turned white.
"...Unmarried."
A suffocating silence slammed into the room.
It was so quiet you could hear the birds outside.
Sienna could hear her own heart pounding wildly in her chest.
Her grip remained locked, her gaze fixed on the paper.
Penny instinctually glanced over at Sienna's clipboard... and realized the page was completely blank.
Unmarried.
What the hell did that mean?
That one word echoed relentlessly in Sienna's mind.
She bit her tongue, brutally forcing herself to ignore it.
But whatever Penny read next, it just turned into white noise.
When Penny finally finished reading.
"Let's begin," Sienna commanded.
Penny looked over at Finn.
"Mr. Fletcher, please extend your arm. I'll take your blood pressure."
Finn didn't move an inch.
His eyes were locked on Sienna.
"Dr. Sterling. Can't you handle these tests?"
Sienna kept her eyes down.
"There is zero clinical difference whether a nurse or a doctor takes your vitals. Please cooperate."
Finn let two agonizing seconds tick by.
"I specifically requested you, Dr. Sterling."
"I am fully aware," Sienna replied, flipping a page with forced indifference. "Hospital policy permits nurses to handle foundational screenings. Cooperate, Mr. Fletcher."
The room fell into another heavy silence.
Penny stood trapped between them, clutching the blood pressure cuff, looking frantically from one to the other.
She had no clue what the history was here, but it was painfully obvious this ridiculously gorgeous pilot was here solely for Sienna.
And Sienna, it seemed... absolutely despised him.
No wonder she had pawned off that expensive takeout dinner onto her last time.
"Mr. Fletcher," Penny ventured, raising the cuff slightly. "Shall we start with your blood pressure?"
Finn shot Penny a look.
