"Sienna, my dad's birthday falls during the seven-day holiday. He doesn't want anything too grand this time, just a private family dinner. He wants both sides of the family to get together."
"He booked a hot spring resort halfway up the mountain. The environment is really nice. Would your parents and Noah be free? They should all come."
The Mountain Springs Resort. Her colleagues had just been talking about it yesterday.
It was the most luxurious vacation spot in the city during the national holiday.
She had wondered why it was closed to the public this year.
It turned out the Fletcher family had rented out the entire place.
"My parents are back in our hometown, so they won't make it. But I'll ask Noah."
"Alright. We'll figure out the details after you get off work."
On the first day of the vacation.
The convoy departed from the city, three luxury SUVs driving smoothly westward.
Two hours later, they turned onto a winding mountain road. The trees lining the highway shifted from regular street trees to towering beeches and pines, and the scent of the air completely changed.
The Mountain Springs Resort sat nestled in a valley between two mountains. The white walls and gray roof tiles were elegantly staggered, and wind chimes hung from the eaves, jingling constantly in the mountain breeze.
Grant Fletcher had booked the entire resort three days in advance. From the main lodge to the private standalone villas, all dozen or so rooms had been completely cleared of other guests.
The moment Sienna stepped out of the car, a familiar voice rang out.
"Your dad is right there. Go to your dad."
"Dad, Dad!"
Finn had just stepped out of the car.
Before he could fully stand, a tiny figure crashed into him and hugged his leg tight.
Finn bent down and scooped York up into his arms.
His movements were incredibly natural; it was obvious he had done this countless times.
Chloe Cross walked over from the steps, dressed in a pale apricot dress, her hair loose and her makeup flawlessly applied.
"Finn, York has been begging to see you all morning." She stood next to him, reaching out to adjust the collar of York's shirt. She looked perfectly at ease, playing the picture-perfect family unit.
Only then did she turn her head, glance at Sienna, and offer a soft, airy smile.
"Ms. Sterling, long time no see."
Sienna gave a polite nod in response.
Chloe took a step forward, subtly blocking Sienna, and looked up at Finn.
