A heavy silence fell over the hallway.
Maya stood quietly behind Silas, still clutching her stuffed bunny by the ears.
She slowly shuffled over to Sienna.
Sienna crouched down and gently took the little girl's hand.
Silas stared at Felicia, his voice dropping into a harsh register.
"Felicia, this is not as simple as you think. York's situation is complicated. He only clings to you right now because he's projecting his memories onto you. Have you thought about what happens if his memory comes back? How is he going to react when he realizes you aren't his real mother?"
Felicia didn't answer immediately.
She looked down at York's sleeping face for a long time before she finally spoke.
"If I push him away right now, he won't survive."
Silas whipped his head around, glaring at Finn and Sienna.
Sienna was quietly playing with Maya, and Finn remained completely silent.
Silas's face darkened with absolute fury.
"Finn, say something."
Finn looked up. His eyes drifted over York and Felicia before locking onto Silas.
"I spoke with the doctor earlier. His professional opinion is that having Felicia play along is the best thing for York's recovery. But my concern is that I refuse to place that kind of burden on her."
"I don't care about the burden. Being with York... I want this. You could even say he's the one saving me..."
Felicia's voice cracked, choked with a sob.
Finn's chest tightened painfully.
He knew without a doubt that Felicia was thinking of the baby she had just lost.
"If Felicia is truly willing to raise York, I will do absolutely everything in my power to support her. But once again, the Fletchers will owe the Hayes family an impossible debt."
Silas angrily waved his hand in dismissal.
"Save your breath!"
