"Is she really that delicate?"

Sienna kept her head down and continued eating, showing zero reaction, as if she hadn't heard a thing.

Finn, however, looked up at Maeve.

"Yes, I'm the delicate one. Not only can I not handle being tired, but I absolutely refuse to let my wife get exhausted."

Grant held his bowl, a smirk forming on his lips that he hid behind the rim.

Stifled by Finn's sharp retort, Maeve didn't dare say anything else about Sienna.

She had been trying everything recently to repair her relationship with her son. Things had just started to improve, and she couldn't risk ruining it all now.

But she felt suffocated and needed an outlet.

She turned her head, saw Grant suppressing a laugh, and glared at him.

"What are you laughing at?"

Grant set down his bowl and cleared his throat.

"The kids are grown; don't micromanage them. You're busy enough serving as Executive Director and COO at the Fletcher Corporation. It's exhausting work, and you need to make sure you get enough rest yourself."

Taking the opening, Finn placed a piece of ribs onto Maeve's plate.

"You're doing an incredible job, Mom. Having you at the helm of the corporation saves me so much effort. Thank you."

Maeve's hand froze dead in the air.

Startled, her grip loosened, and she dropped both of her utensils without even realizing it.

As if moving in slow motion, she looked down at the food on her plate.

It took her several seconds to look back up at him, her stiff lips parting.

Sienna was also stunned.

She looked at Finn, and he happened to turn his head to look at her, a faint smile on his lips as if he had just completed a long-planned mission.

His expression was totally relaxed; that "Mom" had slipped out effortlessly.
