Standing up felt ridiculous, jeans clinging wet and cold in all the wrong places, but the way her eyes raked over my bare chest, and the obvious bulge made it worth every second of awkward. I hooked a thumb toward the hallway. “Give me two minutes. Don’t move.”

“Make it one,” she shot back, propping herself up on her elbows, dress still bunched around her waist, looking all flushed and ready. That smirk on her face? Pure trouble.

I laughed under my breath and headed for the bedroom, already peeling the ruined jeans off as I went. “Yes,

ma’am.”

True to my word, I was back in under two minutes fresh boxers, same white shirt half-buttoned because who had time for all of it, and the second I stepped back into the living room, my eyes locked on her. She hadn’t moved much, just enough to look even more tempting: hair messy, lips still red, green eyes tracking me like I was her next meal.

I crossed the room in three strides, dropping to my knees on the couch between her spread legs again. My hands gripped her thighs, spreading them wider as I leaned in close, voice low and rough. “Miss me?”

“Terribly,” she teased, but her breath hitched when my fingers traced up her inner thigh. “Now shut up and fuck me already, Atlas.”

I grinned, dark and hungry, pressing my forehead to hers for a second. “With pleasure.”

My mouth crashed back onto hers, kissing her like it was the best thing I’d ever tasted, and with her, it damn well was. Deep, messy, hungry. We pulled away just long enough to catch our breath, chests heaving.

I grabbed the condom from my pocket, my whole body buzzing with nerves and excitement. Her green eyes stayed locked on mine the whole time, steady and sure. But even though I was dying to feel her after all these years, I had to check.

“You sure, Em?”

“Never been more sure,” she said, gaze never wavering.

I smiled, heart slamming against my ribs with pure joy. I lifted the condom to my teeth, tore the wrapper while still staring at her, then shoved my boxers down just enough. My dick sprang free, hard as steel and already leaking.

Her eyes dropped, cheeks flushing darker, lips parting on a soft inhale. Fuck… if she kept looking at me like that, I was gonna blow again before I even got inside her.

I rolled the condom on fast, then leaned back down to kiss her, except my damn phone started ringing on the coffee table. Of all fucking times.

“Maybe you should…” she started.

I cut her off with another kiss. “Ignore it.”

She moaned into my mouth as our lips moved again. I spread her legs wider, lined myself up, the tip of my cock just kissing her wet entrance… and the phone rang again. Louder. More annoying.

For fuck’s sake.

“You should take it,” she whispered, half-laughing, half-frustrated.

I groaned, dropping my forehead to hers. “I’m sorry.”

She smiled softly. “It’s fine.”

I swore if this wasn’t life or death, somebody was getting murdered. I grabbed my phone and answered without even checking the screen.

“Hello?”

“Whoa, man, you sound like I just interrupted the best fuck of your life,” Ford’s stupid voice boomed through the speaker, way too cheerful.

I shut my eyes. “I’m hanging up.”

“Wait, wait,” he said fast.

I paused, jaw tight.

“But seriously are you getting laid?” I could hear the grin in his voice, and right then I wanted to slam my head into the nearest wall for even picking up. The only reason I answered was ’cause I thought Sam might be in labor or some shit.

“Ford, I swear…” I groaned, voice low and warning, seconds from snapping.

“Okay, okay, no more jokes. So Sam and I are throwing a party for the little bundle of joy, and I wanted to invite you.”

I rubbed a hand over my face. “You couldn’t text that?”

“Apparently not,” he said. “So? You coming?”

I looked back at Emery. She was propped up on one elbow now, hair a mess, lips still pink from kissing me. watching me with that look that made it impossible to think straight.

“Yeah,” I said. “That’s great, man. Congrats. I’ll be there.”

“Good,” he said. Then, because he was still Ford, he added, “And also bring your secret fuck buddy.”

“I’m ending this call.”

“Wait!” he yelled.

I pulled the phone back to my ear, already regretting every decision that led me here.

His voice softened a little. “If you’re still in touch with Emery…could you let her know about this? Sam would really love it if she came too. No pressure.”

I turned back to Emery. She was still watching me.

“Yeah,” I said. “I’ll let her know.”

“Perfect,” Ford said. “Now go back to your little fuck session.”

I ended the call and tossed the phone on the table, shaking my head as I walked back over to her. My dick was still hard and aching, condom on, ready to go.

“Sorry about that… that was Ford.”

I dropped back down between her legs, hands sliding up her thighs again, ready to pick up right where we left off.

She looked up at me, a little smile tugging at her swollen lips. “Ford? Oh wow, how is he?”

“Still an asshole,” I teased, smirking as I leaned in closer. “But he and Sam are having a baby party this Saturday. They want you there too.”

Her eyes lit up for a second, then something softer, almost sad, flickered across her face. “It’s been so long…”

“Yeah,” I said quietly, brushing my thumb over her cheek. “But you don’t have to go if you don’t want to. No pressure, Em.”

She opened her mouth to answer, but right then her own phone started ringing on the floor.

“Great, now it’s my turn,” she muttered, sitting up a little.

She got up from the couch and reached for it, brushing a hand through her hair as she answered.

“Hello?” she said, then frowned almost immediately. “G…wait, calm down. Hey, slow down.”

I straightened.

Her face changed fast. The softness was gone. Now it was worry.

“I’m on my way,” she said.

Then she ended the call. The second the phone dropped from her ear, I was already moving.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“It’s Gia.” She was scanning the room now, distracted, tense. “I have to go.”

I nodded once.

With everything Gia had been through lately, I knew Em wouldn’t hesitate. She needed her friend, and Emery was the kind of woman who showed up. Every time.

“Yeah,” I said. “Go.”

:

“Um….” Emery’s eyes flicked around the room, then landed on something by the couch.

Her face changed. Fast. I followed her gaze.

Her red panties.

Sitting pretty at the edge of the floor. I bit the inside of my cheek hard enough to keep my face straight. Emery moved even faster, hurrying over and snatching them up before pulling them back on in a rush, her cheeks going bright all over again.

God.

She was beautiful.

Flustered, messy, rushing out the door, and somehow still the hottest thing I’d seen all day. Just before she headed out, she turned back, grabbed my face, and planted a fast, hard kiss on my lips. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. Go meet her.”

She nodded, gave me one last soft look, then rushed out, leaving the door clicking shut behind her.

I stood there in the middle of the living room, shirt half-buttoned, dick still half-hard and now very disappointed, condom still on like an idiot.

“Well… a cold shower it is,” I muttered to the empty room, running a hand through my hair with a tired laugh.

Ten years of waiting, and the universe still found a way to cock-block me. Classic.
