Blood trickled down the man’s forehead. He immediately clutched his head and crouched on the ground, whimpering in pain.
I kept my eyes fixed on the two of them, not daring to let my guard down for a second.
“George, George, are you okay?” the taller man rushed over to help him up.
George held one hand to his head, the other covered in blood.
“Do I fucking look okay to you?”
He turned a furious gaze on me. “You bitch, you dared to hit me! This had nothing to do with you, but you just had to get involved. You, go grab her.”
Hearing this, the taller man got up and started toward me. He eyed the flashlight in my hand, hesitating, not wanting to get too close.
But I knew that against two men, Rachel and I stood no chance.
Suddenly, an idea came to me. I turned to Rachel. “Scream for help! Now!”
Rachel froze for a second, but before she could react, I started screaming at the top of my lungs, my voice nearly piercing through the entire floor. Seeing this, Rachel joined in, her shouts echoing mine.
The stocky man panicked. “Shut them up! Quick!”
The four of us erupted into a chaotic scuffle. The stocky man slapped me, and I swung back, hitting him in the face. The flashlight beam danced wildly around the room, casting eerie shadows in the dead of night.
Given the disparity in strength, Rachel was quickly restrained.
I wasn't faring much better. My hair was a mess, and I was in a sorry state. The stocky man closed in on me. “Go on, hit me! Why’d you stop? I thought you were so tough!”
I backed into a corner, clutching the flashlight, ready for a fight to the death.
Suddenly, with a loud bang, the door was kicked open. A blinding light flooded in, illuminating the room as if it were day.
The stocky man shot us a venomous look. “Shut up! Look at yourself. If you hadn’t been giving me the eye, why would I have been interested in you?”
Rachel shot back, “I may not be a beauty, but I’m still better than you!”
“Both of you, shut up!” Nelson’s gaze swept over us, finally settling on the stocky man.
He tapped the man’s cheek a few times with the flat of the blade.
“A leopard can’t change its spots! Now get the hell out of here, and don’t you ever come near this room again!”
“Or I’ll kill you.”
The stocky man shot me a resentful glance before getting up, clutching his stomach, and leaving. The taller man scrambled to follow him.
