I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 110

"How old is he? What precinct does he work at?" Gwen demanded, practically interrogating him.

Instead of answering, Gavin casually strolled over to the ring to greet the officer as he climbed out.

When Gavin finally returned, Gwen was bouncing on her toes. "What did you say? I saw you guys looking over here. Did you pitch me to him?!"

She desperately scanned the gym, only to see Officer Danvers vanishing into the locker room without a backward glance.

Seeing her crestfallen look, Gavin shot her down without mercy. "You're delusional. I was just asking him a few questions about criminal investigation."

"You're a finance nerd. Why the hell do you care about criminal investigation?" Gwen scoffed, thoroughly unimpressed.

"Every kid wanted to be a cop growing up. Can't I have a hobby?"

"Do you two need me to drop you off at daycare?"

Sophie watched them bicker, utterly amused by their childish rivalry.

"When I finally start dating again, I'm finding a mature, quiet man," Gwen announced, shooting Gavin a pointed glare.

"Actually, I have someone in mind," Gavin smirked.

He locked eyes with Sophie, who immediately placed a finger over her lips.

It wasn't the right time to spill the secret. They needed to engineer a few more "accidental" run-ins between Gwen and Jason Jenkins first.

"I'm heading out of town with Gavin for Memorial Day Weekend. If you're free, go keep my mom company. Mia has been asking about you non-stop. Why don't you drag my mom and the Jenkins out to do something fun?" Sophie suggested casually.

"Say less. If Mom is willing to cook for me, I'll literally move in. And I'll happily babysit Mia. I'm incredible with kids."

Gwen had zero shame, having instantly promoted herself to Sarah's adoptive daughter.

Sophie and Gavin shared a triumphant grin, both thinking the exact same thing: Hooking Jason was the ultimate goal.

That evening, they caught a late movie, driving back through the empty streets.

Stepping out of the car, Sophie winced as a fresh wave of soreness ripped through her muscles.
