I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 193

Sophie's heart trembled. She wrapped her arms around Gavin's waist and rested her cheek against his chest.

During their first time, he had known all along that she was using him to fill the void in her heart. Though he had never said a word about it, how could he possibly not care?

An apology lodged in her throat, but she couldn't force the words out. Gavin had told her never to say 'I'm sorry' to him.

Sophie held onto him for a long time, showing no signs of letting go.

"Planning to hold me like this forever?"

Sophie tilted her head up and saw the teasing glint in his eyes.

"I'll go draw a bath first. Once I'm completely clean, you can hold me all you want."

Flustered, Sophie quickly released him. Seeing that he was still grinning at her, she gave him a light shove, walked over to the suitcase, and started sorting his clothes.

Gwen's video call rang just as Sophie finished hanging Gavin's shirts in the closet. She hesitated for a second before answering.

"Thanks for everything, babe."

Gwen blew a kiss at the screen the moment the call connected.

Sophie was used to her friend's affectionate theatrics and just smiled. However, looking at Gwen on the screen, she noticed the woman wore no makeup and looked incredibly exhausted.

"How is your dad doing?" Sophie asked.

"He's still bedridden. The doctor said it'll probably be another week."

"Jason gets back tomorrow. Will you be okay managing by yourself?"

"I hired a caregiver, so it's fine. I can handle it. How's Mia? Jason really misses her."

"Mia is with my mom. I'm out right now."

Hearing this, Gwen leaned closer to her screen and immediately grinned. "Gavin's back? Are you at his place?"

Sophie blushed and nodded in admission.

"Hope I'm not interrupting your romantic reunion. I feel awful about this. If it weren't for you and Jason, I wouldn't have known what to do. And Jason's ex-wife... he called her before he left to ask if she could take Mia for a few days, and she flat-out refused. Otherwise, we wouldn't have had to bother you and your mom."
