I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 240

Luke started the car. On the road, the taillights formed a long, winding red dragon. This kind of weather was the worst for traffic jams.

"The first snow of the year, and I end up admiring it with you," Zoe sighed.

Luke glanced at her. He didn't quite understand the minds of young women. It was just a coincidence that they saw the snow; what was there to sigh about?

"The first snow represents love," Zoe added.

Luke's lips curled up, and he let out a faint smile.

Zoe's phone rang. She listened for a moment before saying, "Dad, don't worry. If her son disagrees, I'll go talk some sense into him. I'll make sure your marriage goes smoothly. When I come back for the New Year, I'll give you a grand wedding."

Luke threw a sideways glance at Zoe out of the corner of his eye. The conversation was a bit bizarre.

As they neared the subway entrance, Luke pulled into the side lane.

"This is perfect. Thank you, Mr. Lawrence," Zoe said cheerfully.

"You're welcome."

"You're so helpful, you'll definitely have good luck. Cheer up!"

Zoe traced a smile on her lips again. "By the way, I'm heading back to Seattle for the New Year. I'll bring you some good food when I return."

"You're from Seattle?" Luke's expression subtly shifted.

"Yeah. Didn't we run into each other at Sea-Tac International Airport? I post on social media every time I go home. Didn't you see it?"

Luke smiled awkwardly. It had been a long time since he checked his social media feeds.

When he got back, Luke scrolled through Zoe's social media.

She was a happy girl, always finding joy in the little things in life.

"Great Seattle, I'm finally back, I missed you to death... My beloved Hand-torn Sourdough Stew, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hand-rolled Noodles..."

She listed a massive amount of local street food, followed by three drooling emojis.

He carefully clicked through every photo she posted from Seattle—Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, bustling local streets.

He found it somewhat ridiculous that he would actually pay attention to the photos documenting another person's life.

He certainly didn't expect that on the very last day of his spring break, Zoe would actually call him.

"I brought you some Hickory-Smoked Brisket! Come get it."

Zoe sent him the location of her apartment.

"It's the thought that counts! This place is super famous, I stood in line for two hours to get it."

During the car ride that day, Zoe had asked him what local Seattle delicacy he liked. He had replied with Hickory-Smoked Brisket.

Every time Sophie visited her hometown, she always brought him back a portion.
