I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 242

Driving into Blossom Valley Grove, Eleanor noticed that many people had brought picnic blankets. Lying on the blankets and looking up at the trees full of blossoms was truly relaxing.

"Arthur, young people these days really know how to enjoy life," Eleanor sighed, linking her arm through her husband's.

She turned around and saw Luke taking another phone call. She couldn't help but sigh again. Other young people were enjoying life; her son was just merely surviving.

"Luke, come take a picture for your dad and me!" Eleanor intentionally shouted, hoping the person on the other end of the line would get the hint. Calling about work on the weekend—if her son didn't want to rest, didn't other people need to rest too?

Not far away, a young woman heard the shout, sat up from her picnic blanket, and looked over.

Luke hung up the phone and happened to catch her eye. It was Zoe.

He nodded at her. Zoe stood up beneath a blossoming peach tree, smiling radiantly as she looked his way.

Eleanor immediately spun around and zeroed in on the brightly smiling girl. Another girl was sitting next to her. Between them sat a bamboo basket filled with fruit, snacks, and two books.

Two female friends out together—Eleanor's immediate conclusion was that she must be single.

"Your colleague?" Eleanor asked Luke.

"The auditor working with our company," Luke replied.

Eleanor was not about to let an opportunity like this slip away. She waved at the girl. "Hello there! I'm Eleanor, Luke's mother. It's so nice to meet you."

"Hello, Mrs. Lawrence. I'm Zoe. It's very nice to meet you too."

"Out enjoying the blossoms with your friend? You young ladies really know how to set a mood..."

"Mom, did you still want me to take that photo?"

Luke held up his phone, giving Zoe an apologetic smile. If he let his mother keep talking, she'd probably start asking the girl if she had a boyfriend.

"The blossoms over there look much fuller."

Luke deliberately led his parents toward another side of the orchard.
