I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 252

Gwen nodded. Jason's counter-proposal was vastly more logical than her dad's.

Cooking and doing light tidying up wouldn't be too hard for him. He'd only need to handle lunch anyway; she or Jason could easily throw together dinner depending on who got home first.

The very next day, Gwen presented Jason's revised plan to George.

George suddenly wondered if Gwen forcing him to learn how to cook two years ago had been a long-con preparation for this exact moment.

When he broke it down, he was the one getting played by his own daughter.

"Having more skills is never a bad thing. Did you really think wooing a classy woman would be as easy as cracking a few jokes? Do you honestly think you're funnier than Jerry Seinfeld? Since you aren't loaded, you have to be able to cook, be considerate, and be totally reliable. That's the modern standard for a great guy."

Gwen continued aggressively brainwashing her father.

Listening to her pitch, George realized it actually made some sense. A guy who could cook, babysit, and tell a decent joke probably would be quite a catch in the senior dating scene.

For Sophie's birthday, Harold flew out a week early and presented her with an extravagant gift: he had bought a house in her neighborhood.

It was a ground-floor unit with a large garden, perfectly styled with classic, elegant decor. It was blatantly obvious this was exactly the kind of house Sarah would love.

Sophie fully understood the assignment. Her name was on the deed, but the house was entirely meant for Sarah. Harold had merely used her birthday as a loophole to avoid getting rejected by Sarah again.

"You can plant a row of climbing roses out here. By next spring, they'll cover the entire fence. You can plant hydrangeas and standard roses in the yard too. I bought a ton of seeds. Come see if there are any you like."

Harold had hauled back an insane number of potted plants from the local nursery, and worried he had missed a few varieties, he bought a massive stash of seeds too.

"I have to take care of Ethan. I don't have time for this."

"It won't take up much of your time. I remember back in high school, you had all those little sun roses blooming perfectly on your windowsill."

Harold knew Sarah had a deep love for gardening. She would never have the heart to let this beautiful yard go to waste.

Standing right outside the iron gate, George Grayson couldn't stop himself from interjecting. "You can't eat flowers! With a yard this big, you should plant vegetables. Sarah, I used to be quite the green thumb back in the day. Let me teach you."

The minute his daughter had informed him that Harold bought Sophie a house with a garden, George instantly knew Harold was making a massive, underhanded play for Sarah.

He couldn't just stand by without interfering; the anxiety was eating him alive.

"Planting vegetables is a great idea too! Sarah, I remember in our old apartment, you grew chives on the balcony. You'd harvest them constantly to make your Spring Scallion Pasta. It was incredible. If you want to plant vegetables, I'll go buy some vegetable seeds right now."

Harold made sure to heavily emphasize the words 'our old apartment'.
