I Walked Away Seven Years Too Late But Right on Time novel Chapter 27

"Are you out of your mind?!"

Sophie stared at him in utter disbelief, frantically scanning the cramped space for an escape route. Suddenly, a large, calloused hand clamped around the nape of her neck, dragging her forcefully into his heavy shadow.

He moved terrifyingly fast. Before her brain could even process what was happening, his mouth crashed down on hers. Her shocked gasp was instantly swallowed as his tongue invaded with brutal, punishing force.

She shoved fiercely at his chest, but it was like fighting a brick wall. He didn't budge an inch. Instead, his arm wrapped around her waist like a vice, crushing her flush against his solid frame.

She wrenched her head back, desperate to tear herself away from his punishing assault, but he was utterly relentless. Angling his body over hers, he trapped her hopelessly against the edge of the sink.

Clenching her phone like a weapon, she slammed it furiously into his shoulder and aimed a vicious kick squarely at his shin.

The sheer audacity of the man made her violently ill. How dare he kiss his fiancée and then drag his filthy mouth over hers?

But Luke showed absolutely zero intention of letting go. His kiss was aggressive, frenzied, tearing the breath straight from her lungs in a desperate, animalistic frenzy.

The sharp clack of heels echoed violently from the hallway. Starved of oxygen and completely dizzy, Sophie was dragged backward until they collided heavily with a half-open stall door.

By the time her brain caught up, Luke had already shoved her inside and flipped the deadbolt.

Throughout the entire chaotic struggle, his mouth had never once left hers.

The stall was obscenely cramped, the toilet taking up nearly all the space. Trapped in the tiny, claustrophobic box with his body pinned to hers, Sophie felt the last dregs of fight completely drain out of her.

The main restroom door swung open, and the voices of two women drifted in.

"God, it's so pathetic. Did you see the way she was throwing herself at him? She's practically begging for it," one sneered.

"Who knows what goes on behind closed doors. She's probably been sleeping with management for years. How else do you think she's pulling those insane sales numbers? The boss is literally handing her clients."

Sophie's head was spinning dangerously, her knees totally giving out. Luke caught her, holding her tightly against him as he finally, mercifully tore his mouth away, letting her drag in a ragged breath.

Terrified of making a sound, she didn't dare gasp for air. She just sagged weakly against his chest, waiting for her spinning reality to stabilize.

She couldn't scream. If anyone found her hiding in a tiny bathroom stall, practically plastered to an engaged man, there was absolutely no way she could talk her way out of it.

They would instantly label her a desperate slut who dragged her former boss into the bathroom to sleep her way to a contract.

The toilet flushed, the door creaked, and the high heels clacked out of the room. Bracing herself, Sophie prepared to bolt the second the bathroom was empty.

But Luke was completely barricading the stall door with his massive frame. To get out, she had to physically shove past him.

"Move," she hissed, her voice dripping with ice.

He didn't budge. He kept her pinned against his chest, one hand securely cradling the back of her neck, his thumb slowly, intimately stroking the sensitive skin beneath her ear.

The gesture was devastatingly tender, but his voice was a low, furious snarl. "Do you have any idea what kind of sleazebag Leo is? He has a string of women miles long. What the hell are you doing getting tangled up with trash like that?"

His ragged breath ghosts over her ear, sending a sickeningly familiar shiver down her spine.
