After stopping the bleeding, he reached for a bandage, stuck it on, then sliced up a plate of fruit in different shapes and sizes for Orion.
Orion stared at it, clearly wanting to say something but holding back-he really didn’t have an appetite for fruit.
Before long, Helga came back with fresh shrimp.
The moment Nevin heard he’d have to peel them before he could stir-fry them, his hand actually trembled.
Helga didn’t know what had gotten into him that he suddenly wanted to cook for himself, but she still asked, “Why don’t I prep the shrimp for you, and you just handle the stir-frying, Mr. Nevin?”
Nevin shook his head. He and Orion both loved asparagus shrimp.
They usually ate it at least two or three times a week.
He was sure that when Demi cooked this dish, she didn’t use pre-cleaned shrimp-she definitely peeled live ones herself.
Nevin, who hadn’t so much as washed a dish his entire life, frowned so hard his brows could’ve crushed a fly as he reached out and grabbed a huge live shrimp.
The shrimp was wildly energetic, thrashing in his hand. Nevin didn’t pay enough attention, and it sprang right out of his palm.
He went quiet for a moment, picked it up again, and looked over at Helga. She suppressed a laugh and started teaching him how to peel shrimp.
Over at Snow Group, Demi’s stomach suddenly growled loudly.
She grabbed her phone. “Mom, tonight I want garlic butter jumbo shrimp, savory shrimp, and egg custard…”
Demi rattled off several different shrimp dishes in a row
She had no idea why, but she was suddenly seriously craving shrimp.
At the Blackwells’ estate.
The third pan of asparagus shrimp was done.
Helga’s mouth twitched. “Mr. Nevin, this batch looks undercooked. Eating it like this might send you straight to the bathroom…”
Half-raw, the shrimp had only just turned pink on the outside, while the flesh inside was still translucent.
Nevin fell silent, staring at the stove in deep thought before glancing over at the printed recipe beside him.
He’d followed the instructions exactly.
Heat, timing…
There were still shrimp left, but the asparagus was gone!

With the last portion of ingredients on the counter, Helga said, “Mr. Nevin, how about I stir-fry this one for you to watch first?”
Nevin had no idea where his confidence was coming from.
This time, Helga stir-fried the shrimp and asparagus for two or three minutes before plating them; the aroma of asparagus and shrimp filled the kitchen.
“Go call Orion down for dinner.”
Nevin just stood there in the kitchen, breathing in the fragrance and feeling full. He went upstairs for a shower and a change of clothes, convinced that by tomorrow he’d definitely get this dish right.
That night, as he slept, Nevin spent the entire dream peeling shrimp and stir-frying shrimp with asparagus.
When he woke up the next morning, he was dazed for a moment. “After stir-frying all night in my dreams, I should be able to cook it this time…”
Maybe tonight, he should let Demi taste his cooking.
“Helga, I’ll be back around five this afternoon. Buy extra fresh shrimp and asparagus,” Nevin told her before heading out.
After spending all night in his dreams making asparagus shrimp, he felt like he could do it with his eyes closed now.
When he got to the office, the first thing Nevin did was pull up the surveillance feed to check Demi’s condition.
His fingertips unconsciously brushed his lips, where Demi had bitten him yesterday.
“That temper of hers…”
A faint smile flashed in his eyes as his thoughts drifted off, wondering whether the baby Demi was carrying was a boy or a girl.
Back at Snow Group, Demi suddenly turned around, baffled, and swept her gaze across the office.
Weird…
That feeling of being watched was back again.
Was she just becoming overly sensitive and paranoid now that she was pregnant?
Knock, knock.
