Chapter 123
Maddox
There were still a handful of places I wanted to show Harper, but she was barely able to keep her balance. It was clear I needed to get her back to my suite as soon as possible. I arranged for a chauffeur to pick us up, wanting the privacy of the backseat just for the two of us.
Since she’d started getting tipsy, she had whispered countless dirty things in my ear, even in public. I fought hard to keep myself composed, though every fiber of me ached to slide her panties aside multiple times throughout the evening.
Once we were in the backseat, I thought I could hold back a little longer, but that resolve quickly crumbled. The moment I started kissing her neck, I sensed she felt the same way. She straddled me, cupping my face in her hands and pressing her lips fiercely to mine. One hand wound around my neck while the other massaged my hardness through my pants. I groaned at the sensation, lifting her dress to her waist and squeezing her soft curves. I desperately wanted to feel her bare skin beneath my hands.
Her impatience grew; she moaned more loudly against my lips while continuing to stroke me through the fabric. It was clear she longed to touch me directly—and who was I to deny her? Just as I unbuckled my belt and she slipped her hand inside, she suddenly stopped, resting her head on my shoulder.
“Fuck,” she murmured lazily.
Though I was disappointed she stopped, I wasn’t surprised. She’d had too much to drink, and this was inevitable. I just wished I had more time to feel her hands on me.
For the rest of the ride to the suite, she kept her head resting against my shoulder, her fingertips still inside my pants but not quite reaching me. I refrained from squeezing her ass, wanting to give her some space to rest. I pulled her dress down to cover her as much as possible.
“Thanks,” she whispered softly in my ear.
“For what?” I asked, trying to steady my heavy breathing.
“For everything. Tonight was incredible, and it’s all because of you.”
I smirked. “There’s more to come.”
“Really?”
I was about to tell her about the countries I wanted to take her to when she suddenly wrapped both arms around my neck. Even as I wondered what she was up to, I continued talking.
Then, she pressed a gentle kiss to my cheek, a simple act that left me speechless, my mouth hanging open in surprise.
Feeling her lips there sparked a warm glow deep in my chest—something I treasured far more than the rush I’d felt moments before from her hand in my pants.
“Just give me a second, okay?” Her nose brushed against the side of my neck as she settled in closer.
Chapter 198
“For what?”
“For everything I’m about to do to you,” she said with a burst of laughter, as if it was the funniest thing in the world.
When we finally arrived at the hotel, I struggled to get her out of the car because she couldn’t stand on her own. I had to hold her as we climbed the stairs.
Security stood near the entrance, and just as we approached, she kissed the side of my neck. I froze for a moment, my mind struggling to process the warmth flooding my heart. I couldn’t find the words to respond, but she didn’t seem to care, her eyes closed in contentment.
When I looked up, I saw security watching us, trying to pretend they hadn’t noticed. I wasn’t about to show them how much that kiss had affected me, so I cleared my throat and kept moving.
We finally reached the suite on the top floor. I gently placed her on the edge of the bed and crouched down to remove her heels.
Though she’d been sitting upright, before I could finish, she collapsed onto the bed with a groan.
Looking at her scrunched-up face, I knew she was going to wake up with a brutal hangover.
Setting her heels aside, I took hold of one ankle and started kissing my way up her leg toward her thigh.
Suddenly, she sat up, grabbed my collar, and pulled me close.
“I want you to watch me,” she said, her voice dripping with a seductive drunkenness that made my cock twitch.
She’d been talking dirty to me for hours, and now the moment had finally come to see it all.
Before I could even rise from the floor, she licked the center of my face with a sultry moan that made me want to bend her over right then and there, to hear those moans grow louder as she whispered my name. But I held back, curious to see what she had planned.
When she released me, I stood and climbed onto the bed, leaning my back against the headboard.
I grinned at her question. “Come here.”
I scooped her into my arms and laid her back on the bed. She groaned softly as the back of her head hit a hard pillow, and I felt a flicker of concern.
“We should get you checked by a doctor,” I suggested.
She chuckled dismissively. “I’ll be fine.”
My heart was still racing—not from desire, but relief that it wasn’t worse.
With that in mind, I covered her with the blanket, prepared for bed, turned off the lights, and joined her. I wrapped my arm around her waist, feeling her soft curves press against me. I wanted her desperately, but after her drunken fall, I knew it had to wait.
“You really need to get some sleep,” I said gently, trying to quell my desires.
“You’re not mad at me?” Her voice sounded even lazier now, as if she was already drifting off.
“Nope. We have all the time in the world.”
She didn’t respond; she was already asleep.
That night, we didn’t tear each other’s clothes off for wild passion.
Holding her close, feeling the warmth of her body, I realized I preferred things just as they were in that moment. If I wanted to erase Grayson from my mind one day, I had to approach things differently. Harper and I were beyond just physical desire now.
The way Grayson had crossed my thoughts infuriated me. Not only had he used Anna to get Harper’s attention, but he’d also known his feelings for her all along, playing games with hers.
He’d confessed he loved her, which didn’t surprise me—after all, I’d sensed something between them weeks after her return to San Francisco. What I hadn’t known was that he’d always had feelings for her but chose my sister instead.
If I cared about Tiffany, I might have told her what was going on, but honestly, she was even worse than him.
There were so many ways I wanted to make Grayson pay. When I finally decided on one, I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and sent him a text that would make him regret everything he’d done to Harper.
