Invisible to My First Love (Harper and Maddox) novel Chapter 142

**Blueprint 142**

**Chapter 142**

**Maddox**

The brief period I spent back at Harper’s place was enough to illustrate one undeniable truth: she had completely moved on from Grayson. I had tried to provoke a reaction, to see if any remnants of her old feelings for him lingered, but I eventually conceded to the reality that lay before me.

“Absolutely, I came here to pick you up,” I declared, swinging open the door to the passenger seat for her.

“Actually, just give me a minute,” she replied, stepping back.

I nodded, closing the door gently, my gaze following her as she retreated toward the house. Initially, I assumed she wanted to confront Grayson, but I was mistaken. She strolled past him, deliberately avoiding eye contact, her focus solely on her own intentions.

With a definitive click, she locked her door, a silent yet powerful message to Grayson that he was no longer welcome. A smirk crept onto my face, satisfaction bubbling within me.

As she tossed her keys into her bag and made her way back, I caught a glimpse of Grayson in the background, his expression one of disbelief, as though he couldn’t comprehend what had just transpired.

“I’m done here,” she exhaled, relief washing over her features. “We can go now.”

I opened the car door once more, and as she slid into the seat, I closed it with a sense of finality. “I’ll be back soon,” I assured her.

She nodded, her gaze drifting back toward Grayson. She was acutely aware of my intentions.

As I turned to approach him, I had to stifle a laugh. With each passing moment, he appeared more and more pitiful.

He didn’t even bother to lift his head in response to my approaching footsteps.

“Long night?” I asked nonchalantly as I closed the distance between us.

Silence hung in the air, and it only fueled my grin. “I don’t know if you noticed, but my girl just locked the door while you stood there like a statue. I mean, how could she not invite you in?”

“What the fuck do you want?” he snapped, his voice laced with irritation.

When he finally raised his head, I expected to see a glimmer of defiance, perhaps a hint of determination to reclaim what he had lost, but instead, he just looked defeated.

“What do you want?” he reiterated, attempting to sound tough, but the tremor in his voice betrayed him.

I shoved my hands into my pockets, my tone steady as I replied, “Nothing. I just wanted to enjoy the view.”

“What view?” he retorted, confusion mingling with anger.

“The view of you realizing that you lost and I won.”

He scoffed, but it lacked conviction. “This wasn’t a game.”

“Oh, it absolutely was,” I corrected him, my voice dripping with mockery. “It was a long, drawn-out game. You just didn’t realize I was playing it this way.”

He sprang to his feet, his breath coming in heavy gasps. “You have no idea what Harper meant to—”

“Meant to you?” I interjected, my expression hardening. “I know exactly what she meant. Don’t forget that black eye and your messed-up nose are the results of your misguided expectations. You wanted her to wait for you, to keep herself available, but guess what? She outgrew you.”

He opened his mouth to retort, but no words came out. His eyes locked onto mine, the vein in his forehead bulging with frustration, but I was far from finished.

“You thought she would coddle you, comfort you, just like she used to, right? Well, not anymore. She didn’t even bat an eye when you showed up looking like this. You deserve every bit of this humiliation, you know? You finally got to see my sister for who she truly is. I knew the truth all along, but I wanted you to discover it for yourself. And here we are. That day has finally come.”

“You think you’re better than me?” he shot back, anger flaring in his eyes.

“Oh, I know I am.” I held his gaze, unwavering. “The best part? Harper’s with me now, and it’s not just for tonight. She genuinely wants to be with me. Want to know what we have planned for this weekend?”

“I don’t care,” he replied defiantly.

“I’ll tell you anyway. We’re heading to Greece. I’m taking her around the world. I want her to experience all its beauty, and the best part? She wants to go with me, not you. You should be grateful I’m not smashing your nose into oblivion. I spared you last time, and I’ll do it again, but only because there’s nothing left to do to you when you look this pathetic.”

We spoke about everything under the sun—except Grayson. Maddox hadn’t even attempted to touch me in a way that might have hinted at his desires. Instead, he skillfully redirected my thoughts, ensuring I was focused on the present, and for that, I felt a deep sense of gratitude.

For just a fleeting moment, I pondered what time Grayson had left my house after we had abandoned him there, but I quickly dismissed the thought. It didn’t matter anymore.

Eager to rise from bed, I contemplated lifting Maddox’s arm off my waist carefully, but the instant I made a move, his grip tightened, and I sighed in defeat.

A low chuckle rumbled from behind me, and his deep morning voice broke the silence. “Where do you think you’re going?”

I turned my head just enough to catch a glimpse of him over my shoulder. “The bathroom. I didn’t realize you were awake.”

“I just woke up,” he replied, his voice still thick with sleep.

Before I could respond, he pressed a soft kiss to the nape of my neck, the gentle caresses making me giggle as they tickled my skin.

He tightened his embrace around me, as if he were determined to keep me in bed forever.

Then, as my hand inadvertently brushed against his shorts, I felt his arousal, and we both froze, our eyes locking for a charged moment. I wanted to make him feel good after he had given me the space to process everything from the night before, so I looked down and pushed the covers off us.

“Don’t move,” I said playfully, casting a glance at the bulge in his pants.

“What are you up to?” he asked, raising his eyebrows slightly as he tucked a few strands of hair behind my ear.

“Nothing,” I replied coyly, positioning myself on my knees.

When he noticed me loosening the knot on his shorts, he bit his bottom lip, the anticipation in his eyes so palpable it made me want to hurry.

I pulled the shorts down to his knees, revealing his hard cock standing proudly. I wrapped my hand around it, feeling the warmth against my palm, then lowered my mouth to swirl my tongue around the tip just once.

“Fuck,” he whispered, pleasure evident in his voice as he grasped a handful of my hair.

I wanted to savor this wild moment while it lasted, aware that once I spoke to my aunt, everything might change.
