Chapter 246
Iris’s POV
I watched as Jack’s expression shifted from concern to pure shock, his eyes widening as the doctor’s words about my pregnancy hung in the air. For a moment, the room seemed frozen in time. Then Jack took a deliberate step back, his hand already reaching for his phone.
“No one else needs to know about this,” he murmured to Ethan, who nodded grimly.
My stomach dropped. “Jack, wait-” I started, but he had already turned away, speaking rapidly into his phone in hushed tones.
I barely had time to process what was happening before heavy footsteps echoed down the corridor. William Grey appeared in the doorway, his tall figure commanding attention despite his age. His eyes, the same silver–gray as his grandson’s, found mine immediately.
“How long have you been pregnant?” William’s voice was gentle but direct, his eyes searching mine for answers I wasn’t ready to give.
felt trapped under the weight of their stares–Jack’s lingering shock, Ethan’s concern, and the doctor’s awkward hovering by her desk. Behind them, I caught a glimpse of Sebastien approaching down the corridor, completely unaware of what had just been revealed.
“A few months ago,” I answered softly, my voice barely audible even to my own ears.
The impact was immediate. William’s face paled dramatically while Ethan’s jaw tightened. They both made the same calculation–right around
the time of my divorce from Sebastien. William’s knuckles whitened around his cane as the realization settled in.
“This is absolutely ridiculous!” William struck his cane against the floor with unexpected force, making me flinch. “Absolutely ridiculous!”
I kept my eyes down, unable to meet his

gaze. My fingers fidgeted with the edge of my shirt, and I noticed they were trembling slightly. God,
anyone to find out especially not William, who had always shown me more kindness than I deserved.
William’s anger seemed to dissolve as his eyes fell on my trembling hands and hunched shoulders. His expression shifted, the hard lines of outrage softening into something more gentle. He exhaled deeply, glancing briefly at my still–flat stomach before meeting my eyes again with a
gaze full of conflicted emotion
“Child,” William’s voice softened as he reached for my hand, covering it with his weathered one. The warmth of his touch sent a rush of emotion through me. “You’ve been through so much.”
My nose stung with unshed tears. I forced them back, blinking rapidly. I couldn’t break down here–not with Sebastien approaching, not with so many eyes watching. I nodded, keeping my gaze fixed on our joined hands.
“We should continue with the checkup,” I said, gently pulling away and standing. ‘I’ll explain everything later.”
William and Ethan accompanied me to the next examination room, flanking me protectively like guards. As we entered the hallway, I heard Ethan’s cold voice directed at Sebastien, who had just caught up to us.
“Some people don’t appreciate what they have until it’s gone,” Ethan said, his words slicing through the hospital’s ambient noise. “The little. too late, wouldn’t you say, Alpha Grey?”
I couldn’t help but glance back. Sebastien stood motionless, his face an expressionless mask that revealed nothing of his thoughts. Unlike his

usual quick retorts, he remained silent, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my stomach flip.
The remaining examinations passed in a blur of medical jargon and routine procedures. When I finally collected the stack of reports, relief washed over me at the confirmation that the babies and I were healthy. I stepped out of the final examination room to find all three men waiting, their postures tense, like predators sharing territory that was too small.
“Everything’s fine,” I reassured William and Ethan with a small smile. “We’re both healthy.”
I felt rather than saw Sebastien’s reaction to my words, his gaze burning into me. I deliberately avoided looking at him, not ready for whatever I might see in his eyes.
“Let’s go, then,” I said, eager to escape the antiseptic smell of the hospital that was making my sensitive nose twitch. “There’s no reason to stay any longer.”
As we approached the hospital exit, Sebastien’s deep voice broke the silence. “I’ll drive you home.”
My heart stuttered traitorously in my chest. Before I could respond, Ethan stepped between us, his stance protective.
“That won’t be necessary, Alpha Grey. I can take Iris home.”
The tension between them was palpable, crackling in the air like electricity before a storm. I didn’t want a confrontation, especially not here.
“If Sebastien doesn’t mind, that’s fine,” I said, trying to sound casual despite the nervous flutter in my stomach. I noticed William and Ethan
exchange a quick glance, some silent communication passing between them.
In the car, I sat in the back beside William, while Ethan insisted on taking the front passenger seat beside Sebastien. The silence was oppressive, broken only by the soft hum of the engine. I stared out the window, pretending to be absorbed in the passing scenery while my
mind raced with unspoken thoughts.
“So,” Ethan’s voice sliced through the silence, “you wouldn’t be thinking of getting back together with Iris, would you?”
My head snapped up involuntarily, my eyes meeting Sebastien’s in the rearview mirror. For a moment, time seemed to stop.
“Would that be a problem?” Sebastien’s response was simple but loaded with meaning.
My breath caught in my throat. I quickly looked away, but not before I saw the intensity in his silver–gray eyes. The implication of his words hung in the car like a physical presence. Neither William nor Ethan spoke again for the remainder of the journey.
When we reached Blue Harbor, Ethan quickly exited to open the door for me and William. The older werewolf squeezed my hand gently before saying, “Get some rest, dear. Martha will bring over some special werewolf pregnancy broth tomorrow.”
I nodded gratefully. “Thank you.”
I could feel Sebastien’s gaze following my every movement as I said my goodbyes to William and Ethan. I deliberately avoided looking at him, afraid of what my expression might reveal.
