Jealousy Alpha’s Regret
Chapter 39
“I’m here to see Iris Grey,” I said, not bothering with pleasantries.
The concierge looked uncomfortable. “I’m sorry, sir, but we don’t have
a resident by that name.”
“Try Iris Stone,” I said, my patience wearing thin.
His eyes widened slightly. “Mrs. Stone has requested no visitors
without prior approval.”
I leaned forward, letting just enough of my Alpha presence seep
through. “I’m her husband.”
Five minutes later, I was inside her apartment. The locks had been
embarrassingly easy to manipulate with a little Alpha force. The place
was modest but expensive, with floor–to–ceiling windows overlooking
the bay. Iris’s scent was stronger here, mixed with new furniture
smell and something floral–probably a candle she’d bought to make
the place feel like home.
I walked through silently, taking in the sparse decorations, the few
personal items she’d brought. Her laptop sat closed on a small desk in
the corner. In the bedroom, her clothes hung neatly in the closet–far

fewer than she’d had at Grey Manor.
A light shone from under the bathroom door, and I could hear water
running. A shower. Perfect. I’d wait..
As I turned to head back to the living room, I heard her voice, muffled
by the sound of running water. She was on the phone.
“I know we just got back from the mall, Rachel, but I can’t stop thinking about it,” Iris said, her voice tight with anxiety. “Every time Į close my eyes, I see all that blood in the garage.”
My ears perked up. Blood? Garage? What the hell had happened?
“Yeah, the hot shower is helping a little, but I’m still on edge.” A pause. “No, I’m not going back to Grey Manor, not even after this.
That place was never a home to me.”
I frowned. Something serious had happened, something she should have contacted me about. The wolf in me growled protectively.
“How do I feel about Sebastien now?” Another pause. “Even with all this happening, I don’t have much emotional response anymore. After
everything… I’m just… numb.”
The words struck harder than I expected. Numb. As if I’d never

mattered at all.
“I’ve been thinking more about what we discussed at the mall,” she
continued, her voice dropping lower. “What if the attack wasn’t
random? Jack is a Lowell… what if there’s some pack politics at play?
Or worse… what if I was the actual target?”
My body tensed. Someone had attacked a Lowell? Near my wife? My
wolf snarled, the protective instinct rising despite everything.
“Noah just texted me again about those security systems he
recommended.” Her voice softened slightly. “He’s been so supportive
through all this. He even offered to stay here for a few nights, but I
told him I needed space.”
My grip tightened on the armrest. Even after whatever incident had
occurred, Phillips was already trying to insert himself into her life.
“I just need to process everything that’s happened,” she sighed. “The
paramedics confirmed it was definitely a wolf attack… I could smell it
too. I think for now I’ll just let things develop naturally with Noah.
He’s always been good to me, and right now I could use someone I can
trust.”
I’d heard enough. Moving to the living room, I settled into an
armchair facing the hallway. My mind raced with new questions. Who
