Chapter 94
Catherine’s POV
I stared at the faces gathered in our living room, watching the Stone family members whisper among themselves like a pack of scared
pups. Useless. All of them, completely useless. My fingers tightened
around my phone as I paced near the window, trying to maintain a
calm exterior while my insides twisted with anxiety.
“What do these incompetent wolves expect to accomplish?” I thought
bitterly. “Always looking to Iris to solve their problems when they’ve
spent years dismissing her.”
Thomas’s face was ashen as he looked up from his laptop. “Is there
any werewolf family left that hasn’t severed ties with us?” His voice
carried across the room, silencing the whispers.
My chest tightened. The Grey family pulling their investments had
been devastating enough, but the domino effect that followed was
catastrophic. Every business connection, every alliance I’d carefully
cultivated over the years was crumbling before my eyes.
Other packs are circling like vultures,” I thought, feeling cold sweat
forming on my palms. “Without Grey protection, we’re exposed.
Vulnerable.”

Kim’s voice trembled as she answered her father. “Dad, only the
Wilson family hasn’t officially cut contact yet.”
I clutched my phone tighter. The Wilsons. Our last hope. If they stood
by us, we might have a chance to rebuild. I needed to call Iris again,
force her to see reason. She was the only one who could convince
Sebastian to restore Grey protection. The girl had no idea of the
power she held–power I’d spent years trying to control.
“I have to make her understand what’s at stake,” I thought
desperately. “She needs to stop this childish rebellion and do what’s
best for the Stone family. For all of us.”
My phone suddenly vibrated in my hand, startling me. Wilson’s name
flashed on the screen, sending a surge of hope through my body. I
straightened my shoulders and forced my voice to sound confident.
“Alpha Wilson! What a pleasant surprise to hear from you so late.” I
moved away from the others, not wanting them to see the
desperation in my eyes.
“Catherine.” His voice was cold, clinical. “I’ll be direct. Our board has
voted to terminate all business arrangements with Stone enterprises,
effective immediately.”
My heart stopped. “No, no, no, Alpha Wilson, you can’t possibly do

this now-”
“The decision is final.” His tone left no room for negotiation. “Your
family is a sinking ship, Catherine. No one’s foolish enough to go
down with you.”
The phone nearly slipped from my sweaty palm. “But we’ve been
partners for years! We can offer-”
“You have nothing to offer,” he cut me off. “Without Grey backing, the
Stone name is worthless.”
When the call ended, I felt dizzy, my vision blurring at the edges. This
was it. We were truly finished.
“Catherine?” Thomas’s voice pulled me back to reality. “What did
Wilson say?”
I couldn’t bring myself to say the words, but my expression must have
been answer enough. Thomas sank deeper into his chair, his face a
mask of defeat.
“We should contact Iris,” he said after a moment of heavy silence.
“She might be able to-”
“Don’t mention her!” I snapped, anger flaring hot and sudden. “This is

all her fault!”
Thomas looked at me with narrowed eyes. “How exactly is this Iris’s
fault? She didn’t force Sebastian to withdraw his support.”
My hands trembled as I ran them through my hair. “She’s just waiting
for us to be torn apart by other packs! She even threatened to sever
her blood connection to the Stone family! What kind of daughter
does that to her family?”
“What kind of treatment did you give her that would make her want
to do that?” Thomas countered, his voice sharpening.
I felt a flash of panic. Did he suspect something? About Iris’s true
bloodline?
“How could I have treated her badly?” I protested, heart racing. “She’s
my daughter!”
The lie tasted bitter on my tongue, as it always did.
“That’s right, Mom always talks about Iris,” Kim jumped in, coming to
my defense. “She worries about her all the time.”
Relief washed over me. My sweet Kim, always so loyal. Not like Iris,
who never appreciated anything I did for her.

Thomas wasn’t convinced. His brow furrowed as he studied my face.
“Maybe it’s not you, Catherine. Maybe it’s Kim.”
Kim gasped beside me. “What? Me? What did I do?”
“You’ve never respected Iris,” Thomas accused, turning to Kim. “You
constantly belittle her, gossip about her marriage to Sebastian, and
mock her for havin
an Alpha husband who doesn’t love her.”
I felt my face grow hot. “That’s not fair! Kim has done nothing
wrong!”
Thomas ignored me, his eyes fixed on Kim. “You need to apologize to
your sister. Maybe if you show some genuine remorse, she’ll help us
convince the Greys to restore protection.”
