As they talked, they passed through the circular corridor and arrived at the private suite Mr. Lawson had reserved for Larissa. An attendant confirmed Larissa’s identity and ushered them inside.
The entire auction hall was circular, with the exclusive suites located on the second floor closest to the stage. There were only twelve suites in total.
Larissa led Avril into the Midnight Suite.
Whenever a high-value item was up for auction, all twelve suites were typically occupied, and today was no exception. With Larissa’s arrival, the second floor was full. The circular design meant that guests in each suite could see into the others.
“Larissa, look! Garrick is over there!” Avril pointed to the Sunset Suite diagonally across from them.
“I see him,” Larissa said with a nod. A young woman was seated next to him, but she was too far away to make out her features clearly.
“I wonder what that good-for-nothing is planning to buy for his new girlfriend today,” Avril muttered. Then, she pointed to the Noon Suite next to Garrick’s. “Lucius Lincoln, the eldest son of the Lincoln family, is here too! Looks like there’s some serious stuff up for auction today. I’m suddenly getting excited.”
Lucius Lincoln, the eldest son of the Lincoln family’s head now, and Helena’s prized grandson.
Larissa’s eyes narrowed as she scanned the other suites. It was likely that most of these people were here because of the rumors Mr. Lawson had spread about a rare medicinal herb being auctioned today.
In an instant, nearly every guest turned to look at him.
Garrick’s face paled as he heard his amplified voice, and he scrambled to turn off the microphone.
Avril’s mouth twitched in annoyance. “That idiot has the nerve to call me stupid!”
“Let’s respond with this,” Larissa said, patting Avril’s shoulder. When Avril looked at her, she flipped the switch on their suite’s sound system.
