The thought of winning his bet and having Larissa lick his shoe sent a thrill through Milton. He threw his head back with a triumphant laugh. “Of course it’ll be a livestream!”
Larissa was Haskell’s fiancée! Making her lick his shoe was as good as grinding Haskell’s face into the dirt.
“Haha, we can’t wait for that day to come!”
“You’ll have to pick out the perfect pair of shoes for her to lick, Milton!”
“That gives me an idea,” Milton said, pausing for dramatic effect.
The other lackeys took the bait. “What is it? Spit it out!”
“I’ll have all of us… finish on the shoe first,” Milton declared with a lecherous grin.
The cronies stared in stunned silence for a moment. “Holy shit, Milton, you’re a twisted genius!”
“Hahaha, nobody’s more depraved than you!”
Lucius merely listened to them degrade Larissa, not participating in the discussion. But after hearing Milton’s suggestion, he spoke up for the first time. “A fine idea.”
Milton clasped his hands together and scurried over to Lucius, his face a mask of sycophantic glee. “Will Mr. Lincoln be joining us? If you’d like, you can be the first.”
“No need,” Lucius said. “Save that particular pleasure for yourselves.”
“Thank you, Mr. Lincoln!”
Livia had been waiting just outside the door. Hearing nothing but vile filth, she decided there was no useful information to be gained and turned to leave. Just then, she saw Lucius’s assistant watching her from a short distance away.
Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly composed herself and walked over to him.
“I didn’t want to interrupt Lucius while he’s working,” she explained, “but I couldn’t bear to leave him so soon, so I just lingered for a moment.”
The assistant studied her for a long moment before speaking. “Ms. Tyson, it’s best you don’t do this again. If Mr. Lincoln were to misunderstand, it wouldn’t be good for you.”
She typed back a reply:
[Let him bark for a few more days. I’ll turn him into a real dog soon enough.]
After sending the message, she noticed she had been added to a new group chat with eight members. The group creator was her grandfather. Besides her and her parents, Paxton’s family of four was also in the group. The only one missing was Josette Judson.
Kiernan posted a screenshot of a flight itinerary in the chat. He would be arriving in two days, at five in the afternoon.
Paxton was the first to respond: [Dad, you’re coming back?]
Followed by Leopold: [Finley and I will come pick you up!]
Kiernan didn’t reply.
Larissa guessed her grandfather was waiting to see how she and her parents would react. It was obvious he was genuinely trying to push her and Paxton’s family to bury the hatchet and coexist peacefully.
