Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 544

Larissa simply sent back an “OK” emoji. She was curious to see how her grandfather planned to persuade her.

...

Two days later, Kiernan’s flight was scheduled to land at 5:00 PM. Larissa and her parents arrived at the airport at precisely that time.

The moment they stepped into the arrivals hall, Larissa spotted a few familiar figures. Paxton and his wife, Vivica, along with their sons, Finley and Leopold, were already there, waiting anxiously near the gate.

Upon seeing Larissa, Vivica opened her mouth to speak, but a sharp look from her husband silenced her.

Larissa’s family walked over.

Paxton was the first to speak, greeting his older brother and sister-in-law. “Neville. Sapphira.”

Neville merely shot him a look, offering no reply. He would never forget that Paxton had once hired kidnappers to abduct his beloved wife, even planning to cut off one of her fingers to threaten their daughter.

Sapphira mirrored her husband’s coldness, ignoring Paxton completely.

Larissa casually sized them up.

Finley was in terrible shape, his face gaunt and pale as a sheet. An unshaven jaw made him look disheveled, and the expensive navy wool coat he wore hung loosely on his frame, as if his very soul had been drained from his body.

Leopold, dressed in a casual hoodie and vest, looked tired but was in much better spirits. Still, the dark circles under his eyes betrayed many sleepless nights.

As for Paxton and Vivica, Larissa caught a flicker of resentment in Paxton’s eyes, subtle but present. Vivica, however, made no effort to hide her bitterness; her face was a canvas of discontent and animosity.

It was clear that each of them had a very different attitude about how Honora’s deception had brought them to this low point.

Larissa let out a small laugh. “See? Your son agrees you should stop barking.”

Vivica looked as if she was about to choke. After a moment, she managed to say, “Larissa, do you know why we’re at the airport today?”

Larissa feigned ignorance. “Couldn’t make it here, so you’re fleeing the country to try your luck elsewhere?”

Stifling her anger, Vivica continued, “Don’t be ridiculous. We’re here to pick up your grandfather. He asked all of us to come, which must mean he wants our two families to let go of our hatred and live in harmony.”

Before Larissa could offer a sarcastic retort, Neville’s face hardened. “Let go of our hatred? Never!”

Vivica became agitated. “Neville, you know what kind of condition Kiernan is in! It’s one thing for Larissa to be childish and hold a grudge, but you should know better! Kiernan’s health is failing, and the stress of seeing our family torn apart is what drove him to go abroad in the first place. Now he’s coming back specifically to help the Judson family heal. Are you really going to deny him this one wish and risk upsetting him further?”
