Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 678

Arriving at Gale Entertainment, Leopold went straight to Magnus’s office.

“Magnus,” he said without preamble, “are the rumors online true? Mr. Tyson…”

The moment Magnus heard the topic, he shot up from his desk, quickly closed his office door, and turned back with a grim expression. “What do you think? Of course it’s true. Theon Tyson is dead.”

Leopold’s stomach dropped.

Magnus glanced at him. “Heh, I know what you’re thinking,” he said wryly. “You’re wondering if your sister Larissa did it, right?”

Leopold didn’t answer, instead asking, “Will my new album still be released on schedule?”

It was only two days away. His songs were set to drop on his sister’s birthday, a final, spiteful irony.

Magnus lowered his voice. “You’d better hope the rumors are true—that Theon really wasn’t Damon’s biological son. If that’s the case, Damon might not take his anger out on you, and your songs will go live as planned.”

Leopold pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

Magnus sighed. “If I’d known Larissa was this capable, that she could take out someone like Theon, I never would have jumped ship so eagerly. I’m seriously regretting it now.”

“Theon’s death might not have anything to do with Larissa,” Leopold countered weakly.

“Please. There’s just no evidence. Who else could it be?” Magnus gave a bitter laugh. “Either way, if your songs don’t crush Larissa’s, Damon will probably fire me, given his current state. And as for you, your life at Gale Entertainment won’t be easy.”

He shook his head, a strange mix of awe and regret in his voice. “Your sister is something else. She’s been in Regal City for three months and has turned the whole place upside down. I backed the wrong horse, and now I have to live with it. But you, Leopold…”

“Yeah.” Leopold glanced around the small apartment, a sudden realization dawning on him. “Dad, why isn’t Mom back yet?”

Paxton put his phone away. “She hasn’t returned. Finley is probably being stubborn and refusing to come back with her, so she’s decided to stay there with him.”

An uneasy feeling settled over Leopold, a premonition that something terrible was about to happen. He tried calling his mother, Vivica, but there was no answer.

Next, he dialed Finley’s number. This time, it went through.

“What a coincidence. I just turned my phone on.”

“It is,” Leopold said with a wry smile. After a pause, he added, “Larissa’s birthday party is in two days. Are you and Mom coming back to Regal City?”
