Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 737

A few moments later, Honora was brought into the suite. She knelt on the floor, exhausted and covered in faint red marks from their violent encounter. As the only woman in the room when the drug hit, she had become the sole remedy for the men’s affliction. Fortunately, Livia had been absent, giving her the opportunity to be with Lucius. In the end, she had become his exclusive release.

“Mr. Lincoln…” she began, her voice a tired but seductive purr.

Lucius frowned. “Don’t get any ideas just because I slept with you. Go home and take a birth control pill immediately.”

Honora’s face fell.

“I know my place, Mr. Lincoln,” she mumbled. “But what happened tonight?”

“I was hoping you could tell me,” he said coldly. “The drug we were hit with was the same one I gave you. No one outside our circle should have it. It was meant for Larissa’s party, but instead, it was used on us.”

Honora’s face paled. “Mr. Lincoln… it wasn’t me… The person I hired must have betrayed me…”

Before she could finish, his foot connected with her chest, sending her sprawling.

“Is this the extent of your competence?” his voice was demonic. “I’m starting to question the value of keeping you alive.”

Honora scrambled from the room, never having been so happy to hear that.

Soon after, the manager returned with a list. Lucius scanned the names. They were all business partners of the Lincoln family—most of them minor players, but a few were powerful enough to be a real threat. They were keeping quiet for now to avoid their own scandals, but how the Lincoln family handled this would determine their next move.

As his grandmother had said, this incident could not leak.

Over the next two hours, the calls began to pour in.
