Larissa quickly reassured her. “Mom, don’t worry. Of course I’m not going to see him.”
Sapphira let out a sigh of relief. “Good. Tomorrow is your wedding. Just forget about Lucius.”
Still… Larissa couldn’t help but wonder what Lucius’s real motive was. Was he trying to drag her into a deeper conspiracy? Expose her to even greater dangers?
Of course, her decision not to go wasn’t born from fear of the powerful elite. She would always stay true to her principles, but she also knew that some battles had to be fought at the right time. When she was stronger in the future, she would do everything in her power to eradicate all forces of evil.
…
The next day arrived, a beautiful day in early February. On this perfect day, a grand and highly anticipated wedding was taking place.
The venue was a breathtaking masterpiece of flowers, ribbons, and balloons, creating an atmosphere of pure romance. Larissa, in a stunningly designed white gown, looked like an ethereal fairy, while Haskell was devastatingly handsome in a tailored suit. They stood hand in hand at the center of the stage, ready to exchange rings.
At that pivotal moment, an unexpected figure appeared at the entrance—Torrin Dillon.
Avril froze, her heart sinking. “Oh no, not again! What is he doing here? He’s going to ruin my cousin’s wedding!”
As Torrin started walking toward the stage, Avril, in a panic, prepared to intercept him. But just as she was about to move, Torrin stopped at the entrance. He took a deep breath and shouted at the top of his lungs, “Larissa, I wish you a lifetime of happiness!”
The sudden blessing stunned everyone, including Avril. She stood rooted to the spot, completely dumbfounded.
The brief interruption didn't derail the ceremony.
“The bride and groom will now exchange rings!”
As the officiant spoke, Haskell carefully slid a custom-designed diamond ring onto Larissa’s finger.
Larissa looked at the ring on her finger, then smiled radiantly at Haskell. “Haskell, I wish you a lifetime of happiness, too.”
Haskell bowed his head and reverently kissed the ring on her finger. Looking up into her sparkling eyes, he said softly, “Larissa, as long as I can be with you for a lifetime, my happiness is guaranteed.”
