Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 930

“I was expecting something more current, like from one of those trendy new bands.”

“I thought for sure he’d sing one of Larissa’s original songs.”

“None of her original songs really fit the mood, they’re all more inspirational.”

“Good point!”

Larissa ignored the chatter around her, her gaze fixed on Haskell’s impossibly handsome face on the stage. There was no doubt about it; with looks like his, he would be the center of attention anywhere. The only question was whether his voice would be as captivating as his appearance.

As the opening chords of the music began, Haskell’s voice filled the pub.

“And I would do anything for love…”

At the very first line, Larissa couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. Seeing how confident he had been, she’d actually thought his singing might have improved. But no, his skill level remained stubbornly consistent.

The audience was also stunned.

“Haskell’s singing voice is… not what I expected.”

“Well… I guess God is fair after all. I thought a guy like Haskell, who’s perfect in every other way, couldn’t possibly have a flaw. But here it is.”

“Am I the only one who thinks he actually sounds pretty good?”

“Yeah, your taste is definitely unique.”

From a technical standpoint, Haskell’s singing was atrocious, but Larissa loved it. She could tell that he genuinely thought he was doing a great job.

A six-minute song had never felt so long to the audience. Fortunately, Haskell’s stunning looks were a powerful distraction, and the patrons managed to watch him intently until the end.

It was past midnight by the time Larissa and Haskell got back to the B&B from the old town.

As soon as they were inside, Haskell said softly, “Larissa, why don’t you go take a shower first? Relax a little.”

Without thinking, Larissa blurted out an unexpected reply: “Can’t we shower together?”

The words hung in the air, which seemed to freeze for a moment.

Before Haskell could react, Larissa quickly backpedaled. “Slip of the tongue! I just assumed a place like this would have two bathrooms.”

Faced with her terrible excuse, Haskell’s lips curved into a half-smile. “Is that so? We did stay here last night. Did you forget that quickly? Or perhaps, Larissa, you have something else on your mind?”

“Nope, absolutely not!” Larissa declared, feigning innocence. She rushed to her suitcase, grabbed her pajamas, and darted into the bathroom, shutting the door quickly behind her and leaving Haskell standing there alone.
