Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 146

“Leave the tools and get out,” Finley snapped at his secretary.

Ursa scurried out of the office as fast as she could.

Once the door was closed, Finley’s fury erupted. “You don’t know anything, so stop making assumptions! Do you think I want to do something this humiliating?”

Leopold was mystified. “Just tell me, Finley! What does that little witch have on you that’s reduced you to this? She shattered your leg, and not only did you not get immediate revenge, you’re actually taking orders from her! It makes no sense. It’s not like you at all!”

A pained, helpless look crossed Finley’s face. He hesitated for a long moment before the truth finally spilled out. “She poisoned me!”

Leopold froze, his eyes widening in shock. “Poisoned?”

Finley took a deep, shuddering breath. “And the worst part is, she’s the only one with the antidote. I’ve had some of the best doctors in the field examine me, and they’re all stumped.”

His face was as pale as paper, his expression utterly defeated. “So now you understand why I have no choice but to do what she says?”

The truth hit Leopold like a physical blow. He clenched his fists, his voice thick with rage. “I can’t believe that witch is so vicious! Finley, why didn’t you tell Grandpa? There’s no way he’d let her get away with this!”

The image of his powerful older brother, now completely at Larissa’s mercy, was a sobering one. Leopold reluctantly abandoned the idea of using force.

“Alright.”

“One more thing,” Finley added after a moment’s thought. “Since you’re digging for dirt on Larissa, see if you can find out if anyone tried to harm her before she was brought back to the family.”

He still remembered Larissa’s accusation that Honora had hired someone to hurt her. While he didn’t believe Honora was capable of such a thing, he needed to investigate to be certain.
