He had a growing suspicion that his granddaughter wasn’t after the Judson family fortune. In fact, inheriting it or not would make little difference to her.
On the contrary, if the Judson family wanted to maintain its standing among the ever-rising titans of Regal City, it was they who needed her.
“Although neither you nor Haskell were seriously injured in the crash,” Kiernan continued, “I think I should still consult with the Palmer family about the engagement party. Perhaps we should postpone it.”
Larissa smiled confidently. “I don’t think that’s necessary. And I’m sure Haskell would agree.”
Her certainty caught Kiernan by surprise, and he chuckled. “You young people, always in such a rush when you’re in love. Alright, I won’t disturb your rest any longer. Your parents are here to look after you.”
“Sapphira and I will take good care of her,” Neville affirmed.
After seeing Kiernan out, Sapphira’s tense shoulders finally relaxed, though she remained on edge.
“I hope they find evidence of Leopold tampering with your car at Paddy’s Home,” she said anxiously. “Otherwise, knowing Vivica, she’ll never let this go until the matter is settled.”
Neville placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry too much. I’ll post guards outside Larissa’s door around the clock for the next few days. They won’t get a chance to cause any more trouble.”
“Okay.” Sapphira felt a little more at ease, but the anger still simmered within her. “If Leopold really did sabotage Larissa’s brakes, then getting hit was exactly what he deserved!”
Larissa smiled. “Mom, don’t be angry, you’ll get wrinkles. Let’s just wait for Jett’s findings. If Leopold is guilty, then they won’t be the only ones looking to settle a score.”
Honora quickly tried to console Finley. “It’s okay, Finley, there’s still a chance, right? If you can meet Field of Lari by the end of the month and buy the rights to her novel…”
“There is no chance,” Finley said with a self-deprecating shake of his head.
As his family stared at him in confusion, he delivered the devastating truth. “Larissa is Field of Lari. She’ll never sell the rights to me. Once she’s in charge of Starlight Media, she can produce it herself.”
“What?!” Honora was the most shocked of all, her lips trembling. “So… Solon wasn’t lying? I completely misjudged him…”
“That’s right.” Finley’s expression was full of pity, which only heightened Honora’s anxiety. “And Honora, Larissa had a message for you.”
