Chapter 50
Aria
The lake water covers my lover half as Kade does a masterful thing to my breast. I can feel his arousal hard and thick between my legs.
But it’s Ronan’s eyes, those dark portals of need that fixed on me that heighten my pleasure in a way I’ve never experienced.
If I were a better person, I’d ask myself how I keep ending up in this position, or maybe even stop it.
Take things slower.
But that’s not what my wolf wants.
And that’s not what I want.
It’s unexplainable this desire. I have to be taken and possessed and treasured and claimed by the men. My wolf says they are mine.
I’m starting to see that way as well.
Kade cups me between my legs, the hold bold and possessively.
Ronan fist his cock, trying to adjust its engorged prick, but the move is useless. His pants are so tight that they look uncomfortable.
I did that.
I drove him to that state.
The thought is drugging.
Kade pushes two thick fingers into me, and I moan at the stretch.
“Fuck. You’re so hot and tight, baby.”

Chapter 50
He takes his time, fucking his fingers into me in measured strokes as if he has all day. My body tightens
around him, and pleasure makes goosebumps break along my skin.
Shit. Shit I-
A shrill, jarring ringtone.
It slices through the quiet like a blade.
Kade’s hand tightens around my thigh, his hand stilling inside me beneath the surface of the water.
Ronan picks up his phone. “Yeah. What’s going on?”
Kade slips his hands out of mine, and I feel the loss of him.
Instinctively, like he already knows whatever comes next won’t be good, he kisses my mouth gently and says, “I’ll make it up to you.”
Ronan mutters a curse under his breath and drags a hand through his hair.
I push wet strands of hair from my face, my pulse already picking up.
Something’s wrong, my wolf murmurs, her voice low and alert inside my head.
I feel it too
There’s a pause. His shoulders stiffen.
Then his entire body goes rigid.
“No,” he says flatly.
Another pause.
His jaw clenches so hard I swear I hear his teeth grind.
“Stay there. We’re coming.”

He ends the call without another word and turns to us, expression dark and dangerous.
“What happened?” Kade asks immediately, already moving toward shore.
Ronan exhales sharply. “The Assembly.”
The word alone sends a chill racing down my spine.
“They’re at the pack gates,” he continues. “They’ve had word of Aria’s change.”
My stomach drops.
Hunters, my wolf growls, hackles rising. They smell wrong. I don’t like this.
“Already?” I whisper, climbing out of the water. “How could they-”
“It doesn’t matter how,” Ronan snaps, though not at me. In the situation. “What matters is they’re here.”
Kade grabs a towel and wraps it around my shoulders, his hands lingering for just a second longer than
necessary. Grounding me.
“You okay?” he asks quietly.
“No,” I admit. “But I will be.”

My wolf huffs. You will be if we don’t let them take us.
That thought sends another wave of unease through me.
We dress quickly, the peaceful moment at the lake evaporating into something tense and heavy. My fingers fumble with my shirt, my mind racing too fast to keep up.
“They can’t take you,” Kade says under his breath as he pulls his boots on. “Ronan won’t let them.”
“They might try,” I reply.
“They’ll fail,” Ronan cuts in sharply. “Because I won’t give them a reason.”

His eyes meet mine then, intense and unwavering.
“As agreed,” he says, quieter now. “You’re a Faint. Nothing more.”
I nod.
A Faint. Weak, newly turned, barely holding onto control.
Not a Sypher.
Not something rare. Not something dangerous.
Not something with unknown variables.
Lie, my wolf whispers, uneasy but compliant. Hide. Survive.
We move fast through the trees, the air feeling heavier with every step closer to the pack gates.
By the time we reach the clearing, I feel it before I see them.
Power.
Sharp. Cold. Wrong.
My wolf bristles immediately, a low growl rumbling through my chest before I can stop it.
Three figures stand just beyond the boundary line.
No-four.
Aldren is there.
