Felix said, “Aaron sent people to Harbor City to have you officially declared dead. He also had divorce papers delivered to Seaborne for Evan to sign.
“Soon, you won’t have any legal connection to him at all.”
Stella froze.
Felix was feeding her.
Over the past few days, Stella had learned there was no point resisting him.
Once Felix decided to do something, he would see it through no matter what.
Especially after he returned from Blackwater region.
He seemed noticeably more relaxed now.
“That’s fine,” Stella said. “Good, actually.”
After everything Aaron had done, Stella had to admit this was probably the one thing he had handled properly.
At least he knew to erase her old identity and make sure she was completely free of Evan.
If Aaron hadn’t taken care of it, she would’ve had to find a way to do it herself.
Now she didn’t have to worry about any of that.
Felix nodded. “Yeah. I was planning to find time to take care of your records in Harbor City myself.
“Now we don’t have to bother with it.”
Once Stella’s old identity was erased and she was given a new one, Stella Rowan would effectively cease to exist.
Even if Evan and Aaron eventually suspected that she was still alive and tried to find her, it would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
And Felix...
It was almost time for him to disappear too.
“Want any more?” Felix asked.
Stella shook her head. “No.”
Her appetite had been poor lately.
And her wounds still hurt constantly.
Felix handed the bowl to a servant.
Once they were alone, he reached for Stella’s hand.
She pulled away almost instinctively.
The instant his hand closed around nothing, Felix felt an equally hollow ache in his chest.
“Don’t touch me unless you have to,” Stella said coldly.
She didn’t want this kind of closeness with him, so she made no effort to soften her words.
Felix nodded. “Right. It’s unnecessary.”
She still hated him.
Getting her to open her heart again was going to be anything but easy.
“No matter what you do for me now, I’m not going to forgive you.”
Just like she would never forgive Evan.
Felix went still.
Those words sent a quiet, persistent ache through his chest.
He knew exactly how stubborn Stella could become once someone truly hurt her.
But what else could he do?
No matter how difficult it was, he wasn’t giving up.
He wanted her beside him.
And eventually, he wanted her heart too.
“Evan’s being forced to choose between you and the Wright family again,” Felix said. “Want to guess who he’ll choose this time?”
Stella paused.
Again?
She genuinely hadn’t known that.
Confusion flickered across her face as she looked at Felix.
