Was it really all wrong?
Seeing the way Stella was looking at her, Remi frowned.
“Don’t tell me you think the information Evan and your brother have now has something to do with me.”
Stella said nothing.
But the look in her eyes grew colder.
She couldn’t exactly be blamed for being suspicious.
If the evidence from before could have been fake, then what about the evidence now?
Too much had happened lately.
At this point, she couldn’t help questioning everything.
When Stella remained silent, Remi laughed.
“I’m not capable of pulling off something that elaborate.”
This had happened years ago.
To manipulate something like that would require an enormous amount of planning, and every detail would have to be airtight.
Remi insisted she didn’t have that kind of ability.
Stella’s brows drew together even tighter.
“How many years have you been working with Amos?”
Remi blinked.
“Wait, you…”
“You say you’re not capable of it. I don’t believe you.”
Stella’s voice turned cold.
Remi stared at her.
“Do you seriously suspect everything now?”
Stella said nothing.
Everything?
Maybe.
But she couldn’t help it.
She had forgotten how to trust anyone.
“Don’t throw around the word ‘help’ so casually,” Stella said. “People like you don’t help others for no reason.”
With that, she stood and walked away.
Remi watched her leave and sighed.
Seriously...
...
Stella didn’t even remember how she got back to her room.
She didn’t turn on the lights.
She simply sat alone in the dim room and closed her eyes.
Memories flashed through her mind.
Harbor City.
Eirden.
Seaborne.
And everything that had happened up until now.
Ever since leaving Harbor City, it felt as though she had done nothing but struggle.
And she was still struggling now.
She had planned every step so carefully.
