Chapter 1292

At this point, Michael was willing to give his daughter just about anything she asked for.

That was exactly why Aaron had been so desperate to see Stella the night before after learning Evan might be in danger.

Just as he had thought, Stella was probably the only person Michael would listen to right now.

After all, Michael had only just gotten his daughter back from the dead.

He was still at the stage where he wanted to protect her and give her everything she wanted.

“Thanks, Dad.”

Dad.

Hearing her call him that made Michael’s gaze soften even more.

Then he turned to Russ.

“Stay with her the entire time. Don’t let anyone irrelevant get in her way.”

Russ nodded.

“Yes, sir.”

Stella went quiet.

Anyone irrelevant?

He meant Aaron, didn’t he?

When she woke up earlier, she had seen the missed calls from him.

And Yara’s messages had said Evan could no longer be reached.

So Aaron had probably come to the hospital last night because of Evan.

He had wanted to see Stella, only to be stopped by Russ.

The thought that Michael now considered Aaron someone “irrelevant” made the smile on Stella’s lips grow a little softer.

After breakfast, Stella left the hospital.

She called Remi, and the two agreed to meet at the Hogarth family’s shooting range.

When Stella arrived, however, she was surprised to find Jane there too.

Jane looked completely different from the night before.

Today, she wore khaki cargo pants with a fitted black T-shirt.

The outfit was far more casual than yesterday’s polished suit.

Yet her cominanding presence hadn’t changed at all.

Her blonde hair was especially striking.

Then again, beautiful people somehow managed to make even their hair look distinctive.

“Miss Merlin,” Stella greeted her.

Jane smiled.

“There you are, little sister.”

Stella paused.

She still wasn’t quite used to being called that.

She glanced at Remi, then back at Jane.

“Miss Merlin and I go way back,” Remi explained.

Stella blinked.

They knew each other?

Apparently everyone Remi knew was some kind of big shot.

“So when you split up with me after we arrived in Eirden, you went to see Miss Merlin?”

“Yeah.”

Remi nodded.

Stella found that strange.

If Remi knew someone as powerful as Jane, then what exactly had happened the last time she and Seymour had nearly died in Eirden because of Aaron?

Wait.

Nearly.

Was it possible that Jane had been the reason it had only been *nearly*?

That Remi had come within an inch of dying, and Jane had been the one who kept that final inch from disappearing?

Remi looked at Stella.

“Figured it out?”

Stella’s lips twitched.

“Last time, when you and Seymour…”

“I was the one who saved them,” Jane said.

Then she gave Remi a teasing look.

“Completely useless. You almost got yourself killed in Eirden.”

Something that serious came out of Jane’s mouth with effortless amusement.

Remi pursed her lips.

“Yeah. Almost.”

Jane laughed.

“Without me, that ‘almost’ would’ve turned into ‘definitely.’

Remi fell silent..
