Chapter 233

“Let me guess,” Evan said coldly, “you’re trying to say Summer took the baby herself and framed you?”

Stella froze for a second.

Her heart had already gone cold from everything that had happened lately.

But hearing him say that, she actually laughed.

“So now you think I’m the one setting ‘her’ up?”

Evan didn’t answer that.

Instead, his voice turned sharp, dangerous. “Just remember this. Before morning, have the baby brought back.”

Every word was heavy with warning.

Stella’s expression turned even colder. “If that’s how you want to see it, then I’ll tell you this now. I won’t be bringing that baby back.”

“Stella!”

Evan snapped, his anger exploding.

Stella didn’t flinch. “And you? You’d really keep your word?”

All that talk about returning the baby in exchange for a divorce?

To her, it was nothing but empty promises.

At this point, she didn’t believe a single word he said.

Evan’s breathing turned rough. “You’d better bring that baby back.”

Stella hung up.

Talking to someone who refused to listen was a waste of time.

The moment she ended the call, she dialed Gray.

He picked up immediately. “Miss.”

“Drop it. Don’t get involved.”

There was a pause. “You don’t want to use the baby to force the divorce?”

After all, Evan cared deeply about his late brother’s child. Using that leverage would make things much easier.

Stella’s tone was calm, almost detached. “Stay away from that baby. There might be something wrong with

it.”

Gray paused. “…Something wrong?”

“There’s already one child in the hospital with a severe congenital condition. Who’s to say this one doesn’t have issues too?”

If Summer had really built a scheme around that baby, then it was very possible tire child wasn’t completely healthy either.

And if something happened while they were involved?

If the baby suddenly died while in their hands…

Even if she had a hundred mouths, she wouldn’t be able to explain her way out of it.

Gray nodded on the other end. “You’re right.”

“We’ll know by tomorrow morning,” Stella said. “If she’s willing to hand the baby over to me, that tells us everything.”

“Understood.”

Stella ended the call and went straight to bed.

At Mount Lara, Evan had made sure no one could get in.

Not Felix.

Not Jennifer.

No one.

At Clearwater Bay, Evan and Felix sat across from each other.

A cigarette burned between Evan’s fingers.

Felix held a glass of red wine.

“You teamed up with Hogarth Group?” Evan asked.
