Chapter 234
Evan had gone through nearly half a pack of cigarettes at Felix’s place.
After Felix called his thinking ridiculous, Evan didn’t say another word. He just kept smoking until he was done.
Then he stood, glanced down at Felix on the couch, and said coldly, “We’re not getting divorced. So you and Hogarth Group can back off.”
Clearly, Felix’s comment hadn’t landed at all.
Evan was still convinced Felix had teamed up with Hogarth Group to pressure him.
Felix let out a faint laugh. “And what gives you the right to keep her in that marriage?”
Evan had just reached the door when Felix’s voice stopped him.
He froze, then turned back.
His gaze was sharp and dangerous, like a predator in the dark.
Felix met it calmly. “Have you ever trusted her?”
Evan said nothing.
“Didn’t I tell you to verify Summer’s so-called depression?”
Evan’s expression hardened. “What are you getting at?”
Felix’s tone turned colder. “And now, you’ve decided she took the baby?”
That was all Felix needed to hear earlier.
The moment Evan accused Stella of being capable of something like that, Felix already knew-
Before coming here, Evan had confronted her.
And not calmly either.
More like a fight.
Then again, with how things stood now, Stella probably hadn’t even bothered arguing.
To her, it wasn’t worth it.
୮
Seeing Evan stay silent, Felix let out a low, mocking laugh. “A marriage with no trust… what’s the point of keeping it?”
Evan snapped. “That’s none of your business.”
Stella was his wife.
They were meant to spend a lifetime together.
Who was Felix to question the meaning of it?
Fella didn’t argue that. He simply said, “Maybe not. But if she wants to leave you, I’ll do everything I can to help her.”
“Felix!”
Evan’s anger flared again.
Felix set his wine glass down and stood.
Even in casual clothes, his presence was just as imposing
He walked up to Evan and stopped right in front of him.
“If you can clean up the mess inside your own family,” Felix said coolly, “then maybe I’ll respect you as a man.”
The Wright family was a complete disaster.
And every bit of it had been pushed onto Stella.
Yet instead of figuring things out, Evan had chosen to stand with them and blame her.
The only reason Stella had stayed with him all these years… was because he used to protect her.
But these past six months?
What was left now?
Evan’s fists clenched.
