Chapter 275
No matter what, you did not just tell someone to get divorced.
The two men locked eyes.
One cold and sharp.
The other visibly furious.
Leon jumped in to smooth things over. “Alright, enough. Summer didn’t do anything. If that’s what you want to believe, Evan, then fine.”
He only said it because, in his view, this was the Wright family’s mess, not theirs.
But Evan’s sharp gaze shifted to him. “And what exactly do you mean by that?”
Leon froze. “I just…”
“You think this was all Summer’s fault too?”
Leon: “…?!”
He had not even said anything.
He was only trying to shut the conversation down, and now Evan had turned on him too.
Leon said, “I didn’t say anything.”
“So what if you did?” Lucas cut in, furious. “Hasn’t Summer done enough already? All that fake sweet act of hers. Seriously, the second I hear her voice, I want to throw up.
On that last line, Lucas even made a gagging face.
The moment Evan looked at him, his grip on the bottle tightened.
Lucas caught the movement. “What, you want to hit me for her too?”

Evan’s breathing turned rough. Through gritted teeth, he said, “Her husband died. She was pregnant. Do you have any idea what kind of situation she was in…”
“Alright, alright, enough, Evan. Drink. Let’s just drink.” Leon hurriedly cut him off and shoved arrother bottle into his hand.
When he and Lucas first got there, Leon had wanted to tell Evan to slow down.
Now he thought the opposite.
Let him drink.
Let him drink himself unconscious.
At least then he would stop saying things that made everyone sick.
So that was how it went.

After they came back out, Lucas thought about calling Stella.
But then he looked at the time and decided against it.
In the car, Leon asked, “Who do you think really caused that baby’s death?”
“All I know is, it wasn’t Stella.”
He and Evan had always been close.
But now that he knew Stella had finally divorced Evan, all he felt was relieved for her.
“Just drop me here,” Lucas said. “I’m heading to Clearwater Bay.”
Leon frowned. “What are you going to see Felix for?”
Lucas paused.
What was he going for?
He could not quite explain it.
He just had a strong feeling this was not over.
Stella and Evan’s divorce would not make the baby’s death disappear.
With someone like Summer, there was no telling what she would do next.
Stella had gone to bed early the night before, so she woke early too.
It was barely past seven.
