Chapter 277
Stella said, “I know.”
“Try not to take it too hard, Getting away from the Wright family is a good thing for you.
Hearing Lucas comfort her so seriously, Stella laughed. “Are you even Evan’s friend?”
“If he heard you saying that, he’d probably want to kill you.
Lucas said, “I am his friend, but this whole thing… forget it. I’m not getting into all that. Just be careful
around Summer.”
Summer might have always acted soft and sweet, but Lucas knew better.
Setting aside whatever was going on with Summer’s mother, Summer herself was no simple woman.
Sure, she played the delicate, innocent act well.
But she had also worked at Wright Corporation before, and by all accounts, she had been especially capable.
A woman like that was bound to be calculating.
Stella said, “All right. I know.”
The fact that Lucas had called her at all only made Stella more certain she had made the right decision.
The moment she hung up, Jennifer got up too.
She had slept well the night before and was still wearing Stella’s soft cotton pajamas.
“Anyway, have someone else go pick up the divorce/papers later. Don’t go yourself.”
“You haven’t exactly been feeling great these past couple of days.”
Stella said, “I know.”
Jennifer hesitated, then asked, “The Wright family probably already called the police about the baby, right? On your side…”
“Don’t worry. I’ve already handled it.”
Of course they were going to call the police.
The Wright family had reported it, and so had she, just before Lucas called.

Hearing that Stella had already made arrangements, Jennifer finally relaxed and nodded. “Those people really have no idea who they’ve messed with, and they’re still acting smug.”
Especially Summer.
Now that Stella and Evan were divorced, she was probably the happiest one of all.
After breakfast, Jennifer left for work and said she would come back that evening to stay with Stella again.

Al Clearwater Bay, Felix woke up to find Lucas there and inmediately frowned.
“When did you get here?
Lucas said, “Around three in the morning. I just had the butler set me up in one of the guest rooms.”
It had been so late when he arrived that he had not bothered waking Felix.
Breakfast had already been set out.
Felix and Lucas sat across from each other at the table. Felix asked, “Did everything get taken care of?”
The Carter family had run into some trouble over the past few days, and Lucas had been away on business
because of it.
The only reason he had been able to come back so quickly was Felix’s help.
At the question, Lucas nodded. “Yeah. Thanks to you, it got sorted out fast.”
Felix said nothing.
After a pause, Lucas asked, “So… Evan and Stella are divorced. Did you hear?”
There was a note of testing in his voice.
He was even watching Felix’s face carefully.
Felix’s expression barely changed, though something flickered in his eyes. Lucas missed it because Felix had lowered his gaze.
Felix only said, calm and unhurried, “Evan could never let go of Steven’s children, or stop taking care of Summer. Their divorce was inevitable.”
