After Stella returned to Mount Pansworth, she locked herself in her room and shut everyone out.

Gray had people keeping an eye on the room the entire time.

The moment he sensed something was wrong with her mood, he ordered someone to investigate what she and Grandma Diana had talked about.

But the report that came back was this: the old woman had died not long after Stella left.

Aaron called, and Gray answered at once. “Sir.”

“What is going on with Stella? Why is she not answering her phone?” Aaron’s deep voice came through the

line.

Gray said, “Miss Stella went to see an elderly woman today. After that meeting, her mood seemned off.”

“Once she got back, she locked herself in her room.”

Aaron asked, “What did they talk about?”

“I do not know,” Gray replied. “No one else was in the room while they were talking.”

“Find out.”

At that, Gray’s heart skipped hard. “The old woman has already passed away.”

Aaron fell silent…

Her dying words?

And words powerful enough to shake Stella that badly?

Why?

“Who was she?”

Gray answered, “She was one of the caretakers from the orphanage who used to look after Miss Stella.”

Aaron asked, “Did she manage to finalize the divorce from Evan?”

“No. Betsy was on her way to the civil affairs bureau with the divorce papers when she got into a car accident. The car exploded. Betsy was pulled out in time, but that was all.”

The moment he heard ‘car accident’, Aaron’s breathing turned heavy.

“Did Evan do it?”

Gray answered carefully, “The cause is still under investigation. We cannot confirm yet whether Mr. Wright was behind it.”

Was it Evan?

It was possible. After all, he had refused to let the divorce happen this entire time.

After giving his orders, Aaron hung up.

Inside her room, Stella got a call frotn Evan.

Over the phone, he told her, “Since the first divorce agreement did not go through, maybe we should stop here and not get divorced after all. Looks like it is fate.”

The moment Stella heard the word ‘fate’, a bloodthirsty smile curled at her lips.

“You’re right,” she said. “It is fate.”

How did the Wright family deserve to keep living?

Before they were torn apart piece by piece, there was no way her mother in heaven would allow her to walk away from that family so easily.

How could she leave before doing anything at all?

The moment she said that, Evan froze on the other end of the line.

He had expected this call to end in a screaming match. After all, over the past few weeks, she had shown him exactly how fierce her temper could be.

He never expected her to sound so calm.

More than that, there was even a soft smile in her voice.

A soft smile?

Would she still ever speak to him that way?

For a second, Evan thought he must be hearing things. He had almost mistaken her voice for the way it used to sound.
