Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 504

Chapter 504

It took Evan more than an hour to walk back.

Summer had been working from the afternoon until a little after ten at night. The animal enclosure was not that big, but it had still worn her down for hours.

She was completely exhausted.

She and Evan appeared in the living room at the same time. When Evan saw the scratches all over Summer’s face his expression darkened instantly.

Summer called out to him, her voice full of grievance. “Evan.”

It seemed to be a habit of hers.

Even back when things had not been as difficult as they were now, she had instinctively leaned on Evan.

And now, even more than before, she wanted him to protect her.

Stella had been about to head upstairs.

When she saw them come in at the same time and heard Summer’s pitiful “Evan,” she let out a cold laugh.

She said nothing and started up the stairs.

Behind her, Evan’s voice suddenly rang out.

“Making all of them suffer like this. Does that really make you happy?”

Stella stopped.

Standing at the foot of the stairs, she turned back to look at Evan and said, “Of course it does. I’m thrilled.”

Some people said that even after getting revenge, a person might not feel as happy as they had imagined.

Why was that?

Because they still had feelings for their enemies?

How ridiculous.

If there was hatred, and if revenge was possible, then of course it would feel good.

Right now, Stella was very happy.

When Evan heard her answer, his expression turned even darker.

Stella said, “Once none of you can be happy, I’ll be completely satisfied.”

Back then, when Dora, Summer, and Fiona stood above her and tried to trample her under their feet, hadn’t they enjoyed it too?

Now she was letting them taste what it felt like to be the one crushed beneath someone else’s heel.

They were suffering.

But Stella was truly happy.

Evan met her smiling eyes, yet there was not the slightest warmth in them.

“Why?” he asked. “Why exactly?”

“Why?” Stella said. “Haven’t I already told you? You shouldn’t be asking me again.”

Evan fell silent.

Stella looked at him coldly. “Is it because your people are useless, or because you’re too afraid to know the truth?”

She had already told him before, hadn’t she?

He needed to look into how many people Dora had killed.

Judging by the way things looked now, Evan still did not know much.

That was why he was still standing here asking her why.

Stella said nothing more and turned to go upstairs.

Only Summer and Evan were left in the living room.

Summer looked at Evan. Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she held back.

Evan did not say anything either. He turned and went upstairs.

Summer was both exhausted and starving.

People always said that when someone kept working, they would not feel the cold as much.

But the animal enclosure had been freezing. The animals’ housing needed ventilation, and outside, a snowstorm had been raging.

They had talked before about installing temperature control in the enclosure, but it had not been done in time.

So today, Summer had truly suffered out there.

When a maid placed her dinner in front of her that night, Summer’s face turned green.

“Why is there only one bun?”

When Dora and Fiona had worked before, they had at least gotten some proper food.

Why was it that when it came to her, she only got one bun?

And a cold one at that.

She had been starving and freezing all afternoon. After doing so much work, she had thought she would at least get something hot to eat.

But this was it?

Anyone would have found that unbearable.
