General Litt had shown no mercy.
He had failed to kill Evan outright, but he had come close enough.
Everyone outside believed Evan was dead.
What Amos had not expected was that Evan had no intention of telling Stella the truth either.
“Aren’t you worried she’ll be devastated?” Amos added.
“She doesn’t give a damn about me,” Evan said coldly. “Why would she be devastated?”
Would she grieve for him?
Probably not.
At least, not for him.
Amos stared at him, speechless.
“Keep her in Sevi Valley,” Evan said. “Don’t tell her too much.”
The information about Felix, Aaron, and General Litt was only meant to convince Stella to remain in Sevi Valley without causing trouble.
Amos nodded.
“Understood.”
…
When Stella learned that Aaron and Felix were negotiating with General Litt again, and that Litt wanted her, something inside her went cold.
Perhaps it had already died.
She had seen enough while she was still in Eirden.
So when she learned that Felix and Aaron were willing to treat her this way, she seemed almost indifferent.
“What a wonderful brother you have,” Remi said sarcastically.
She looked at Stella with a faint smile.
Stella said nothing.
Seymour was there as well.
Stella lifted her coffee and took a sip.
“Where did you say you wanted to go today?” Remi asked.
“The cemetery.”
“What are you going there for? Do you have family buried here?”
Stella paused.
Family?
No.
She barely had any family left in this world.
Why would she have relatives buried here?
“Do I need to have family there to visit a cemetery?”
“You need some kind of reason,” Remi said. “What would you be doing there otherwise?”
“I’m buying a burial plot.”
“For whom? You’re not dying anytime soon, so there’s no reason to prepare one for yourself.”
