Daisy
“Babe?”
Ravens voice was unmistakable, I looked up from my place on the floor surrounded by blacks and siled before I could help myself
He looked delicious. In his faded jeans and leather cut. Which was strange because I’d never thought I would fancy an honest to god biker, et se love with one. But here I was panting after a man who was almost old enough to be my father. I was in love wife an outlaw
His eyes swept over me, and they were full, of a dark promise that heated my cheeks.
He really shouldn’t be looking at me like that when I was surrounded by toddlers.
“Is your meeting over?” I pushed myself to my feet and stepping over the toys that were strewn about, went towards him. The second was within arma length, he pulled me hard against his chest.
“Yeah Church is over. I just wanted to say goodbye before we headed out. I need to know you’re going to be here when I get back.”
“I’ll be here.” I shrugged. “Probably right here with these little tykes!” Throwing a glance behind me I couldn’t help but smile.
Eyes glued to my face, ravens lips curved upward in a grin of his own. “You want one?
Giggling I shook my head. “They all have parents Raven. Parents who I’m sure would take offence if I tried to pinch one.”
His laughter joined mine. “I mean one of your own. Our own.” His eyes bored down into mine. Unblinking and I realised he was serious.
“You want to have a baby?”
Catching my look he grinned even wider. “I haven’t really thought about it before but seeing you with them.” He chin jerked towards the playing toddlers. “Yeah I think I’d love to have a kid with you. After this mess is all sorted of course. And only when you’re ready. I can already tell you would be a sta mother and I’d be a good dad I reckon.”
“Raven you may already have a daughter.”
His face fell instantly but he didn’t let go of me. If my words hurt him he tried his best to hide it. “Yeah maybe. Won’t really kos unto meet
“Yeah.” Reaching up on my tiptoes I pressed my mouth to his. Trying to kiss away some of the pain I could see in his dark eyes
“You probably think I’m ” he began to say and I silenced him with my lips again.
“I don’t think you’re a dead beat dad Raven. You can’t be blamed for being in her life if you didn’t even know she existed. What matters now is getting out of my brothers clutches and making sure she is ok.”
Although I wasn’t suse anyone who had ever been taken by my brother would ever be truly ok, ever agai
“The sooner you rescue her and the others and close his operations down the better. After that you can try and build bridges ”
He stared down at me. “When did you get so wise?”
Chapter 110
“ways have been, you just didn’t see if because you were hung up on my age. Actually I’ve been thinking. I think the best way to bring my brother diner
and keep him there is to
I didn’t get to finish as his lips slider mine. Silencing me.
“Raven” I pulled away slightly. Both of us breathing heavily. “I mean it.”
Leaning his head against mine he sighed. “I know you are trying to help but we have this under control. His hand slipped up and under my tshirt maning my spine with his fingertips. “I know you want to help but we honestly have a full proof plan.”
1 bristled. He might have a plan and it might even be a good one but I knew how sneaky and conniving my brother could be.
“I want to help.”
Rubbing the tip of his nose against mine, Raven smiled. “You can help by staying here so I know you are safe. That’s what you can do to help, stay put until I’m back. That way I won’t be worried about you.”
I opened my mouth to argue back.
“Please Daisy.”
It was the please that did it. Sighing loudly I nodded.
“Thank you.” His mouth crashed down on mine, his tongue invading and then over powering mine in a kiss that threatened to quickly turn to something
else.
Behind me the chatter of children fell silent.
“I have to go. But by the time I get back this will all be over.”
I wanted to believe that was true but I wasn’t sure I did. There was just something deep down in my gut that told me he was being to optimistic.
Or maybe I was just jaded.
“Please don’t do anything stupid.” I whispered.
“I’ll be fine Daisy. Just -”
“I know stay here where it’s safe.” I rolled my eyes.
Ravens eyes narrowed. “I know you don’t like me not taking your advice Daisy and I do respect your opinions but you are over your head in this Please just trust me enough to sort it. Trust me enough to protect you.”
“I do.” I stepped out of his arms.
“I love you.”
I opened my mouth to say it back but he was already walking away. Leaving me to stare at him and the prickling unease crawled up my back.
It was never about me not trusting him to protect me. It was the fact that he wouldn’t let me protect him. I knew my brother Josh, i knew what he was capable of better than anyone else, except maybe Lottie.
