Chapter 14
“Lottie wait.”
I heard Xander call after me but I didn’t stop until I reached the glowing doorway of my home. Breathing heavily surveyed the
shattered glass of the floor. There were bloody footprints there as well.
With a frown I stared at them and then slowly down at my own bloody feet.
Fuck.
“Lottie-”
I felt rather than saw Xander come up behind me and my body stiffened. He noticed it right away just like he noticed my bloody
feet.
“You’re hurt.” Xanders hand went to my waist almost like he was going to lift me into his arms.
“Don’t.” I swatted his hand away. “I’m fine.”
“You’ve shredded your feet.” Again he reached for me and this time my feeble slaps did nothing and he lifted me into his arms.
His boots crunched over the broken glass as he headed back towards the sofa. Depositing me in the middle of the over plumped
cushions and taking a seat beside me.
“Do you have a first aid kit?”
I didn’t answer him.
“I wished you’d stayed inside.” He sighed. “I told you to stay put.”
Slowly I turned my head to face him. “Is that because you didn’t want me to see what I just witnessed?”
“I don’t know what I think you saw-” he began to say.
Bristling, I pushed myself to standing. Sure there was blood on my feet but no amount of pain in the world would stop me from
leaving this situation.
“Where are you going now?” He asked, not moving from his seat as I hobbled towards the kitchen. My feet were sore and they
needed cleaning but they weren’t too bad. Luckily.
“Lottie.” With another sigh he rushed after me. “I know it looks bad, and you are probably confused but if you let me explain-”
“There’s nothing to explain Xander. You have a boyfriend.”

Chapter 14
I’d reached the cabinets when he whirled me around. His arms either side of my hips to trap me against them. “He’s not my
boyfriend.” This time there was real anger at me. “Just because because.” He stuttered and straightened. “Fuck how do I explain? i
know it came as a shock to you. Seeing me kiss him and I was going to tell you but.”
I met his eyes. “I don’t care if you were kissing a man Xander. That kind of thing doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is the
fact that you are clearly in some kind of relationship and you’re still pursuing me. I’d be mad if it was a woman or a man.”
He ran his fingers through his cropped hair. “Our relationship is well it’s complicated. But it isn’t monogamous.”
“So you just sleep with each other and there’s no feelings involved?” I couldn’t help but laugh.
He seemed to have forgotten I’d seen them together. That hadn’t been a casual kiss. It had been intimate and almost loving.
“I will always care for Irish but we know there’s no future for us. So we just have fun. Sometimes together. Sometimes we bring in
other partners.”
“That sounds exhausting and ever so heartbreaking.” I pulled the first aid kit from the cupboard and set it on the side. Now I was standing on my feet they were beginning to sting. “If you love someone you should be able to be with them.”
Pushing out of his arms, I jumped up on the countertop and lifted my left foot into my lap.
Xander caught it in his giant hands. “Let me do that.”
I was going to tell him no but at the last minute I changed my mind with a sigh.
“You don’t need to pretend to be interested in me just as some kind of cover for your relationship with him. I think-”
Xander’s fingers squeezed my ankle bone. “That’s not what this is.” He grated out. “I really do like you. And I think Irish will as well
in time.”
Blinking in shock I stared down at the top of his head as he swiped an antiseptic wipe against the cut on my foot. I winced back.
“Ok.” I sucked in a pained breath. “So this whole thing is to get me into bed with both you and Irish. Who by the way seems to hate
me.”

Still holding my foot Xander chuckled. “He’s like that with everyone. But I reckon he does like you. Or at least he will. There’s just
something about you, Lottie. It kind of draws you in.”
Holy shit, he was serious. He actually thought that he could get me to take part in his kinky little sex games with his boyfriend.
I was beyond insulted.
“And if we all get on then I don’t see there being a problem with
I pushed his hand away. “Please stop talking.” Jumping down I pushed at his chest until he stepped away.

Chapter 14
He didn’t put up a fight.
“I’m not explaining myself very well.” Again he ruffled his hair. “I do really like you Lottie. Like from the second I saw you, you’re
all I can think about.”
I swallowed hard. “And what about Irish?”
He shrugged “what about him?”
“Someone threw a brick through my window Xander.” I pointed out. “And he just happened to be outside. Do you actually think that
