Chapter 106 The Storm Outside, The Storm Within
Agnes closed her eyes and said softly, “My head hurts. I want to rest. You should go.”
Finished
Raymond looked at her. He knew she was still upset. But there was time. He believed he could start over with her, slowly.
“Alright. I’ll go for now. Get some rest. I’ll come back later.
After he left, Agnes opened her eyes again. She had mostly recovered over the past few days. Quietly, she completed her discharge and left the hospital on her own.
No matter what Raymond said, she wouldn’t believe him anymore. She was tired-too tired.
She went to her studio and handled some work matters. While she was there, her staff mentioned that Rebecca hadn’t shown up for several days.
That felt strange. And a little worrying. Rebecca had never been like this before.
No matter how busy she was, she always made sure everything at work was handled properly.
Agnes called her. Rebecca answered and said she was fine, just busy with school lately. She said things would settle down in a few days.
Hearing that, Agnes felt relieved and didn’t ask more.
Late that night, a heavy storm hit Grandridge. Thunder roared. Lightning split the sky. The wide streets were almost empty, with barely a car in sight.
A taxi stopped outside a bar. A woman stepped out,
She opened her umbrella and stood there for a moment, looking at the entrance. Then she walked inside.
Inside a private room, glasses clinked. Laughter filled the air. Men and women joked and leaned close to each other.
Rebecca stood outside the door. Through the glass, she saw Ethan sitting in the middle of the group.
Several women were around him, drinking with him, laughing, leaning in close. They tried hard to please him. Rebecca felt like something was burning inside her chest.
Lately, Ethan always said he was busy. Before, he used to stick to her all day. Now, even seeing him once was hard.
Still, Rebecca kept making excuses for him. His family ran a big business. Men got busy. That was normal
Even if he came to places like bars for work, she tried to understand.
But this time, it had been days since she last saw him. He didn’t answer her calls. He didn’t reply to her
messages.
She missed him too much. After asking one of Ethan’s friends, she found out he was here. So even in the

heavy rain, she took a cab just to see him.
The door opened. Rebecca stepped inside, a little timid.
The room, once full of laughter, suddenly went quiet.
Finished
Ethan’s friends all knew her. Every time they looked at her, there was something strange in their eyes.
Those people had all seen her body in those explicit photos and sex tapes in the group chat.
One of them nudged Ethan, who had his face buried against a woman’s huge chest.
Ethan looked up, annoyed, following the direction of the man’s finger.
When he saw Rebecca, his face twisted with disgust. He didn’t move. He still had a woman in each arm, holding them close, like he didn’t care at all.
Ethan sounded annoyed. “Why are you here? What do you want?”
Rebecca held back her tears. Her fingers clutched the hem of her shirt. She forced a small smile.
“Ethan… I couldn’t reach you. I knew you were here, so I came. Can you… come back with me?”
“I already told you,” Ethan said, impatient. “I’m busy. I’ll come see you when I’m done. Just go home.”
“You’ve said that so many times. How long am I supposed to wait?”
Ethan snapped. “Why are you so clingy? Do you have nothing else to do? Are you not listening? I said I’m busy!”
Rebecca couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears fell down her face.
One of Ethan’s friends stepped in to smooth things over. “Hey, man, don’t talk to her like that. She just came to see you. No need to be so harsh.”
Ethan frowned when he saw Rebecca crying. There were other people in the room. He stood up, clearly irritated.
“I’ll deal with this. You guys keep going. I’ll be back.”
He walked out of the private room. Rebecca quickly followed him.
Outside, it was still pouring rain. They stopped in a quiet corner near the entrance.
Ethan crossed his arms. “Go ahead. What do you want?”
