"You have no idea. That island trip last time? It was all because of him!
"His fiancée, Vivian, kept picking on Agnes the whole time!"
The more Carmen talked, the angrier she got. She clenched her fists until they cracked.
"I swear, I'm gonna go to the Brogdon Residence myself and deal with that woman!"
Then she suddenly leaned closer to Raymond, lowering her voice like she was sharing a secret. "You really need to watch your back. Neal isn't easy to deal with.
"You know, there's something I've been afraid to tell you.
"Before you got to the island, Agnes had a diving accident.
"I heard from the other instructors that Neal actually gave her his oxygen mask underwater, risking his safety for her. That calculating bastard!"
"At this rate, any woman would have a hard time not falling for him, don't you think?"
She turned to Raymond and started blaming him.
"And another thing. I heard from my brother that Agnes specifically invited you on that island trip. Why didn't you go?
"See? That's how someone got their opening. Ugh!"
She turned to look at Raymond. His face was calm and unreadable, betraying no emotion at all.
Carmen snapped her fingers twice next to his ear.
"Hello? Are you even listening, Raymond? Did you zone out? Give me something, okay?"
Raymond only replied flatly, "Got it."
Carmen rolled her eyes, speechless.
"Seriously? You're not even mad? Whatever. No matter what, Raymond, I'm on your side!
"You seem fine, so I'll head out. I'll let my brother know. He's been worried sick.
"Get some rest. I'll come by again."
Raymond didn't respond. His mind was already filled with everything Carmen had just said.
On the island... Agnes and Neal...
It was driving him crazy. Every word Carmen had said felt like a needle stabbing into his nerves.
He clenched his fists, regret hitting him harder and harder. Why did I turn down her invitation back then?
After Carmen left, he slammed his fist hard into the floor-to-ceiling window in front of him. Glass shattered all over the floor.
Eden came sprinting into the room and froze, horrified by the scene.
That window was thick. How much force did it take to smash it into pieces?
Blood dripped from Raymond's hand onto the carpet, drop by drop.
But he just stood there silently, like he couldn't even feel the pain.
