Love After Leaving: No Regret (Agnes and Raymond) novel Chapter 377

Duncan suddenly stopped talking, like something clicked in his mind. He looked at Carmen with shock and fear.

"You... you're..."

His throat bobbed as he forced out a raspy whisper. "Did you change your name? What was your name back then?"

Carmen suddenly burst into wild, unhinged laughter. She clapped her hands excitedly.

"Well, well, looks like Mr. Newton finally figured it out. So you finally remember who I am? Hahaha!"

She stood up and paced around the operating table.

Then she leaned in close to his ear and said, slowly and clearly, "I did change my name. I used to be called... Caitlin Shaw."

The moment Duncan heard that name, it felt like he had been hit in the head with a hammer.

Suddenly, he remembered the first time he saw her at his father's antique auction.

The way Carmen had looked at him felt off. That half-smile was cold and eerie.

Carmen. Caitlin Shaw. Frank Shaw. Why hadn't I realized it sooner?!

Terrifying memories flooded his mind like a tidal wave.

That piece of the past he had chosen to bury and forget was now rising up in his head with brutal clarity.

His whole body was drenched in sweat. He stared at Carmen in disbelief, his voice trembling. "Y-You didn't look like this back then..."

Carmen's lips curved into a sweet smile.

Now, she was stunning and seductive, with a graceful figure that turned heads wherever she went.

But who would've guessed that back then, she'd had a totally different style—dark, edgy, cool.

She used to be both soft and tough at the same time, and even had her own group of admirers.

Carmen brushed her hair back, a half-smile playing on her lips.

"Yeah, I barely remember what I used to look like."

She lowered her eyes with a soft sigh.

"After Eleanor died, the Newtons protected you way too well. I couldn't touch either of you.

"Later, I left Grandridge. Changed my name. Changed every habit I had. I got through the darkest time of my life."

Carmen lit a cigarette and took a slow drag.

"By the time I finally had the power to come back and settle the score, you and Ursa had already been kicked out of the Newtons.

"Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to track you down all these years? Hmm?"

Suddenly, she burst into laughter, blowing a thick cloud of smoke directly into Duncan's face.

"Who would've thought, Duncan, you'd actually delivered yourself right to my doorstep. Coming here to die. Hahaha. It's fate!"
