Chapter 7

Alpha, why hasn’t this month’s allowance been deposited?Mrs. Evans barged in without

knocking.

Isaac’s face darkened as he told her to leave.

I’ll give Chloe her allowance as per the rules, but as for everything else, don’t even think about it.

Mrs. Evans, a large woman, didn’t budge, instead pushing the small Chloe toward Issac.

Alpha, you can’t say that. If it weren’t for you insisting that Chloe join the elite warrior squad, she would have been working to support her family by now. Now that she’s in the squad, you should help out with her family’s difficulties.

She was really pushing her luck.

Issac had spent his life leading warriors, but he had never dealt with people like this.

We agreed from the start that I’d only be responsible for her, not for anyone else!

Mrs. Evans shoved Chloe further into Issac’s arms.

I know you guys like young girls. My daughter is still a virgin. Let her be with you. Is it too much to ask for a job for her little brother?

Issac recoiled as though he’d touched a hot iron, pushing Chloe away. My intentions toward her

were strictly professional!

Mrs. Evans scoffed. If you weren’t after something why would you treat her better than your own

girlfriend?”

Issac froze, completely stunned.

Chloe tugged at his clothes. Alpha, I’m willing to be with you, as long as you help my brother

Chloe! Do you have no shame?!Issac’s voice trembled with rage.

Chloe looked up at him innocently and said, A good job is nothing compared to a good marriage. You’re a good man, Alpha, you would treat me well, right?

Issac stumbled back, and my brother rushed to catch him.

What have I doneto hurt Freya for someone like this? His face was pale.

Get out! I won’t give you another cent!he shouted.

Chloe’s expression twisted. You’re the one who wanted me in the unit! You can’t just bring me in and then abandon me! If you want me to train hard, you have to help with my family’s problems!

Her shamelessness left Issac speechless.

Grandpa raised his cane and began shooing them away.

Mrs. Evans sat on the ground, wailing, This is outrageous! A dignified Alpha bullying a young girl!

Her screams attracted other pack members, who gathered around to watch and gossip.

I didn’t expect the Alpha to be like this

Probably done things like this before

The Kingsleys are probably in on it, too. Probably no better themselves.

If this continued, the rumors would drown my grandparents.

Grandfather choked on his anger, his face paling, and then he collapsed.

Grandpa!

Issac tried to carry him to the car, but Mrs. Evans grabbed his leg.

Don’t even think about running! You owe me! My daughter can’t just be with you for nothing!

Issac broke down. An elderly man just collapsed, and all you care about is money?

Mrs. Evans refused to let go.

I grabbed the sickle by the wall and swung it down.

She scrambled back in terror, crawling away.

I raised my phone to record.

I started recording the moment you came in. Get out of the way. Now. If anything happens to my

grandfather, jail will be the least of your worries.

You think I don’t know where you live? Or where is your son’s school?

I waved the sickle threateningly.

They were finally intimidated, and we rushed Grandpa to the hospital.

The healer said Grandpa couldn’t handle any more stress.

I hadn’t hated Issac when he treated me differently, nor when I was alone paying off debts, but

when Grandpa nearly died because of him, I truly hated him.

I suppressed the anger building inside me.

Grandpa had collapsed, and I needed to stay strong

After Grandpa was out of danger, Issac left on his own. Before he left, he asked for the video.

When he returned, Grandpa could get out of bed.

I didn’t ask where he had gone.

Later, I found out that he had reported Chloe and her mother for blackmail and false accusations.

His connections had worked in his favor.

Chloe was stripped of her warrior status, and Mrs. Evans was detained.

After Grandpa was discharged from the hospital, I took him back to the city.

Issac and my brother came over from time to time, claiming they were here to cook and clean for Grandpa.

They were cautious, knowing I wouldn’t take money from them, so they gave their wages to Grandpa and Grandma.

Grandpa and Grandma accepted it readily and then quietly used it to pay down my debts.

Grandpa said, Can you really just cut all ties with your brother? If he retires or if he falls ill, are you really going to stand by? If it’s offered, why refuse?

Feelings aren’t so easy to sort out. Just treat it as an old acquaintance, occasionally checking in.

I nodded.

On holidays, I’d send a brief message.

Without the pressure of debt, I started preparing for the elite warrior squad selection again.

This time, I successfully made it into another special forces squad.
