108 The Wall, the Heat, the Warning

Arya’s POV

His words hung in the air like a challenge, that boyish smile fading into something sharper, more predatory, as he stepped back fully, giving me just enough room to breathe, but not enough to escape the pull of his gaze. My body still thrummed with the echo of his touch, pussy aching from the denial, slickness cooling against my skin in a frustrating reminder of how close I’d come. I shoved off the

wall, chest heaving, glaring at him through the haze of anger and want.

‘Connect?’ I snarled, circling him now, trying to reclaim some ground. My fists clenched at my sides. but my focus splintered, every nerve attuned to the way his shirt clung to his sweat-dampened torso, outlining the ridges of muscle I’d felt pressed against me. The mate bond tugged insistently, a low hum in my veins, making my wolf pace restlessly, urging me to close the distance again.

Lev didn’t move, just watched me with that infuriating calm, arms loose at his sides, ready for whatever I threw. ‘Come on, Arya. Show me you’ve got more than just fire in those eyes. Hit me. Make it count.’ His voice was even, taunting, like he knew exactly how off-balance I was.

I lunged, feinting left before driving my elbow toward his ribs, putting all my frustration into the strike. He sidestepped smoothly, his hand catching my forearm mid-motion, twisting just enough to pull me forward into his space. Our bodies collided, my breasts pressing against his chest, the hard planes of him absorbing my momentum. His free arm wrapped around my lower back, fingers splaying wide to hold me steady, his thumb brushing the dip of my spine in a way that sent unwelcome heat pooling low in my belly.

‘Too predictable,’ he murmured, his breath hot against my ear, lips so close they ghosted the sensitive skin there. The warmth of it made my pulse stutter, a shiver racing down my arms despite the fight in me. I could smell him, musk and earth, sharpened by exertion, filling my lungs, making my head spin.

My wolf whined softly, leaning into the proximity, but I twisted in his grip, knee jerking up toward his

thigh.

He anticipated it, shifting to pin my leg with his own, our hips aligning in a way that pressed his thigh firmly between mine. The friction was accidental, or was it?, rubbing against my still-sensitive core through the layers of fabric, drawing a sharp inhale from me.

‘Focus,’ he taunted softly, his voice a velvet rumble that vibrated through our contact.

‘Or is the bond distracting you again? Making you wet and weak when you need to be sharp?’

I growled, shoving at his shoulders with both hands, breaking free this time, but only because he let me. My cheeks burned, arousal twisting with humiliation as I danced back, trying to reset my stance My thighs clenched involuntarily, the throb between them making every step unsteady, my guard

dropping lower than it should Damn him for knowing, for using it against me without mercy

He advanced slowly, deliberately, like a wolf stalking prey, his eyes locked on mine. Again. Don’t hoid

back. Before I could fully recover, he closed the gap, his hand grazing my hip as he deflected my hasty punch, fingers lingering just a second too long, tracing the curve before releasing. The touch branded me, heat flaring under my skin, and I faltered, my next swing wild and off-target.

Lev capitalized instantly, hooking an arm around my waist and yanking me back against him. My back hit his front, ass nestling against the solid line of his groin, his erection evident but restrained, a hard promise that made my breath hitch. He didn’t grind, didn’t push further, just held me there, one hand flat on my stomach to keep me immobile, his chin dipping to rest near my shoulder. His breath fanned my neck, warm and steady, lips brushing the edge of my jaw as he spoke.

‘Feel that tension coiling up?’ he whispered, his voice low and coaxing, sending tingles straight to my

clit. ‘You’re fighting the wrong battle, Arya. Let the pull in, use it to fuel your strikes, not scatter your

focus.’ His fingers flexed against my abdomen, pressing just enough to feel the rapid rise and fall of

my breaths, the subtle tremor in my core.

I bucked against him, elbow jabbing back toward his ribs, but he absorbed it effortlessly, his body unyielding. The movement only ground me harder against him, the friction sparking fresh need that made my knees weaken. My wolf surged forward, craving the dominance, the closeness, but I clamped down on it, wrenching free with a frustrated cry. “This isn’t fair,’ I panted, whirling to face him,
