Hades

“You’re crazy, Hades Sinclair. Your wife? You didn’t tell me you were getting married. What the hell. Who is this woman? Is she a crazy person like you, or is she pregnant, is that why you’re marrying her?”

“No, I doubt a man like you would give a damn if a woman bore your child. That’s not enough reason for you to marry her. So why the hell are you getting married?”

Silas’s voice crackled through the phone, one accusation tumbling after the other. I didn’t bother to interrupt. I sat back in my chair, legs crossed, staring at nothing in particular while his words hissed through the speaker.

“Hades? Why aren’t you answering me? Does Alec know this woman? I need information. I still can’t believe a man like you would settle down. I honestly thought you’d stay single forever.”

I tilted my head, the corner of my mouth lifting. “Your expectations of me are disappointingly low, Silas. Should I be offended?”

He chuckled nervously. “Of course not. I’m just surprised. A man who never wanted to be tied down is willingly getting married. I wonder how your woman managed that.”

The words your woman pleased me more than I’d admit. My voice dropped lower, almost lazy. “You’re right. I wouldn’t let anyone tie me down. But if it’s her, I wouldn’t mind being kept on a leash.”

On the other end, Silas sucked in a breath. “Fucking hell, Hades. She’s got you wrapped around her thumb-”

I cut him off before he could get more dramatic. “Do your best to protect her, Silas You know I don’t spare anyone who touches what’s mine.”

I paused, remembering the fierce look in her eyes that morning, a smirk curling my lips. “She can protect herself, but my princess is too kind sometimes, she might let them off with a light punishment. I won’t accept that. Whatever she decides, make it worse. And if you can’t, I’ll be more than happy to help.”

Silas sighed on the other end of the line. “I’ll take care of it. You don’t have to worry. And besides, it sounds like you’ve got some things to take care of.”

I glanced at the man writhing on the floor in front of me, his body convulsing as he screamed. Silas’s voice drifted through the receiver again, dry and amused. “You’re the only crazy bastard who calls a lawyer while torturing someone. Anyway, I’m off. Talk to you later.”

The line went dead.

I dropped the phone on the table beside me, its dull clatter echoing in the dimly lit room. My fingers drummed against the

wood.

“Ahhhh! Ahhh! P-please stop it! It hurts!” The man’s voice cracked, desperation filling the air. “I will do anything, please stop this pain!!!”

Levi stood silently by the door, expressionless, while a woman beside him kept her eyes fixed on the floor, both of them still

as statues.

I reached for the cigar resting on the desk. My gloved fingers toyed lazily with the lighter until a flame flickered to life. I lit it, exhaling a slow stream of smoke.

The man coughed blood, clutching at his throat, his eyes wild with pain. I watched him, my face unreadable. “That’s a new

drug I created,” I said.

He blinked, blood streaking his lashes, confusion tangled with agony.

“It hasn’t even reached the market yet.” My voice stayed calm as I took another drag of smoke. “All night I thought about the perfect way to punish you for laying hands on that woman, I wanted something satisfying. So I decided to let you be the first to try it. Besides, I didn’t want to leave visible bruises.”

His lips trembled. “I—”

“You deserve a far more excruciating death,” I said coldly. “You’ll die slowly, from the inside out. Your organs will rot while you’re still alive. It will feel like a thousand needles stabbing you from within. One by one, your body will shut down. You won’t be able to move, speak, or even scream.”

I leaned closer, my eyes flashing. “And before you take your last breath, I’ll throw your body from a tall building and call it a suicide.”

“And when you finally die, I’ll make sure that even in hell, you’ll keep suffering the same torment, over and over again.”

I clenched my hands together, my palms damp. Could Hades really have been involved in Julian’s death?

If I was right… if Hades really killed him, then he was more dangerous than I thought. A man capable of taking another man’s life without even blinking, that kind of man wasn’t scared of anything.

And if he had done it, and made it look like suicide, it was even worse. It was a message, as if he were making a statement about what happened with Sebastian.

My throat felt dry. I licked my lips, shaking my head.

No, maybe I was overthinking it. Why would Hades kill a man just because he laid his hands on me?

That didn’t make sense…

“Violet, are you okay? What happened?”

I turned around. My uncle stood there, brows furrowed in confusion. “I-It’s nothing,” I said quickly, coughing to clear my

throat.

He studied me for a moment, then sighed. “I see. About your brother, I worked on it all night. I called a few of my friends to check up on him. So maybe I’ll-”

I cut him off, turning to him fully. “You don’t have to worry about us anymore, Uncle.”

He blinked, caught off guard. “What are you talking about?”

“I never hated you like the rest of them. Even though living with your family felt like hell, you still helped Sebastian and me whenever you could. So I will always appreciate you.”

A small smile touched his lips, but I continued before he could speak.

“But that ends here, Uncle.”

The smile fell.
