Chapter 102

Chapter 102

Violet

Nobody said a word.

Everyone just stared at me.

ના

The silence was loud, I could hear the faint, steady beeping of Sebastian’s heart monitor beside his bed. Penelope and Kai stared at me, mouths slightly agape, eyes wide with disbelief, as if I had completely lost my mind.

Sebastian’s expression was worse. His brows furrowed, and his lips parted slightly. And, as the realization hit him, the monitor beside him spiked sharply.

“Sebastian.” I said quickly, stepping forward. “Are you okay?”

He blinked twice as if trying to reboot his entire brain. He slowly turned to Penelope and Kai.

“Guys,” he said carefully, pointing at me, “my sister just said she’s marrying a guy I don’t even know. Did I hear that right, or are you all playing a very sick game with me?”

Kai exhaled, dragging a hand down his face. “I wish we were.” he muttered under his breath.

Sebastian’s eyes

widened even more as he whipped his head back toward me. “You’re really going to marry him?”

I hesitated for a second but nodded. “Yes. He’s going to be my husband.”

arm slide The look on my brother’s face made my stomach twist with guilt. He looked too pale, and shocked. Maybe I shouldn’t have told him so soon, he was still recovering. I opened my mouth to say something, but before I could, I felt a strong around my waist.

I froze as Hades’s warm breath brushed against my ear, his voice low. “Are you trying to turn me on, princess?”

I blinked, caught off guard. “What?”

He leaned in closer, his lips barely grazing my ear as he spoke again. “Calling me your husband in front of everyone, do you know how hard I’m getting from that alone?”

My entire face flushed crimson. “H-Hades Sinclair,” I hissed, glaring at him. “Control your urges.”

He grinned against my skin, completely unfazed. “Can you blame me? I’ve been thinking about fucking my wife.”

Oh God.

Penelope groaned loudly, rubbing her temples. “I can’t believe I’m witnessing this right now. It’s already shocking enough to see him here, and now you’re telling me you’re marrying him?”

Sebastian was still gaping, his mouth opening and closing like he was trying to form words but failing miserably. Finally, he managed to startimer, “W-what is going on? Marriage? You’re getting married? How did this even happen?”

I licked my lips, my mind spinning.

1-”

Fuck, I was definitely going to regret this. But what choice did I have? I couldn’t let Sebastian know the truth. If he ever found out why I was really marrying Hades, he’d blame himself.

So I closed my eyes for a moment, inhaled deeply, then smiled as I leaned a little closer into Hades’s side.

“You see,” I started, “I… I’m in love with him.”

For a moment, no one breathed. Even Hades seemed caught off guard for a second, though the faint curve of his lips showed he was thoroughly entertained by the chaos I’d just created.

“Huh?”

I smiled again, doing my best to sound confident, even as my heart threatened to beat out of my chest. “I’m serious. The reason I’m marrying him is because I love him. It was… love at first sight.” I forced out a small laugh. “When I saw him, I just knew he was going to be my husband. I mean, look at him, he’s handsome, rich, and has an amazing body. Any woman would fall in love with him.”

I didn’t dare look at anyone, especially not Hades. I knew exactly what kind of cocky grin he’d be wearing right now, and I didn’t think I could handle it without smacking him.

The room fell silent again. Sebastian sighed quietly, shoulders relaxing just a little. “I don’t know what’s going on,” he finally said, “but since you’re so adamant about marrying him, I’ll trust your decision.”

He glanced toward Hades. “He might look dangerous, but he doesn’t seem dangerous to you.”

If only he knew. If only he understood that the man standing behind me wasn’t just anyone, he was more terrifying than anyone I had ever met. And he was also Matthew’s father. But that was a truth for another day, a conversation I wasn’t ready to have yet.

I looked at Penelope and Kai next. They were quiet, but their eyes said everything, they had a lot of questions.

I could already feel my body starting to weaken, the adrenaline that had kept me standing all day finally wearing off.

Sebastian must have noticed, because he frowned slightly. “Violet,” he said gently, “you should go back home and rest.”

I shook my head immediately. “No, I can’t-”

Penelope cut me off. “He’s right, go home and relax. Kai and I will stay here with him. You look exhausted.”

I opened my mouth to protest again, but then Sebastian turned to Hades. Despite still looking weak, he managed to incline his head respectfully.

“Please, take care of my sister.”

For a moment, Hades didn’t say anything. He just looked at my brother, and slipped his hand into his pocket.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “She’s in safe hands.”

I looked at Sebastian, he looked determined, that same stubborn tilt in his jaw reminding me of every fight we’d ever had. I paused briefly, then nodded, “Alright, but make sure you take care of yourself. I’ll come as early as tomorrow.”

Sebastian’s expression softened. That was all I needed to see before turned to my friends. “Thank you so much, guys,”

Penelope waved her hand dismissively, flashing that teasing grin of hers. “Don’t worry about it, Vi. Just go.”

Hades’s fingers brushed mine possessively, and he guided me out of the room. I could feel Sebastian’s and my friends’ eyes following us as we walked down the corridor.
