Violet
I leaned back against the bedframe and pressed a hand to my head. Everything rang. My skull throbbed, my body felt sore in places I didn’t even know could ache, and every muscle complained the second I tried to move.
I let out a tired sigh. A few days had passed since the disaster in the parking lot and all the tension with Hades and Roman. After Hades had carried me out of the car like some uncivilized barbarian, he made love to me in the car, not even waiting to get in the house. And even after that, he still wasn’t finished.
The moment we got home, he took me again, against the wall, on the stairs, in the hallway, on the couch, practically every corner of the house, until my legs shook so badly I genuinely thought I would collapse.
The days that followed were peaceful.
I spent nearly every day at the hospital with Sebastian, checking on him, talking to him, and helping him recover. Penelope and Kai came by constantly too.
For some reason, Hades spent nearly all his time with me
He took me shopping, on dates, on spontaneous drives where he bought me anything I so much as glanced at. He had his chefs prepare entire feasts just because I mentioned craving something once. He spoiled me so much that sometimes I genuinely felt like a princess.
And of course… the sex.
I had no idea where he got the stamina of a demon, but every night he made love to me until my bones felt like jelly. I even had to write him a timetable, but of course, that man didn’t give a single damn. Hades Sinclair glanced at it, smirked, and proceeded to take me right there on the desk before I’d even put the pen down.
He murmured something about rewarding me for my “nice handwriting.”
Seriously? Nice handwriting?
At this point, that man would find any excuse to put his dick inside me.
I wasn’t complaining, the sex was incredible, but I was still human, and humans have limits. My consequence for all the pleasure was waking up with sore legs every morning while Penelope teased me mercilessly, acting like I’d run a marathon.
I shook my head quickly, trying not to think about it, because the more I thought about it, the more everything down there clenched, and when it clenched, it hurt.
“Hades?” I called softly, glancing around the large room.
Silence.
He wasn’t here.
With a painful groan, I pushed myself out of bed, ignoring the way my body protested, and walked naked toward the bathroom. The cool tiles under my feet made me shiver. When reached the mirror and lifted my gaze, I nearly rolled my eyes at the reflection staring back at me.
My hair was a tangled disaster, my lips looked swollen, and my neck was covered in love marks all the way down to my collarbone. Hades never changed. Every single time, he left marks like he wanted to brand me, and every single morning I had to panic over how to hide them.
I touched one of the darker marks, biting my lip, already imagining the teasing I’d get from my friends if they saw me like this. And even though I complained, a small smile tugged at my mouth anyway.

To make it worse, I remembered what he’d murmured against my neck just the other day. “Fuck… I think I’m in love.”
A shudder ran through me so violently I had to grip the edge of the sink. “No,” I muttered quickly, shutting my eyes. “Stop thinking about it, Violet. He didn’t mean it. It was just the heat of the moment. People say things when they’re lost in pleasure.”
I told myself it didn’t matter whether he meant it or not. But every time the memory surfaced, my heart still skipped a beat.
I turned on the tap with more force than necessary and splashed cold water onto my face again and again until the warmth in my cheeks faded. “Forget about it, Violet. Don’t you dare let your emotions mess with your revenge.”
After washing up, I stepped out of the bathroom, the towel wrapped snugly around me. My muscles felt looser now, though a dull soreness still throbbed through my hips and thighs.
I dried off, pulled on one of the shirts Hades bought for me and a pair of soft pants, then packed my hair into a loose ponytail before leaving the room.
By the time I reached the stairs, I was just about to take the last step when something barreled into me from the side, knocking me squarely onto my ass. I gasped, but before I could even react, a heavy weight landed on my torso, and wet, warm licks assaulted my face. I didn’t even need to look.
“Tiger,” I breathed, smiling so hard my cheeks ached.
He barked happily and kept licking, his fluffy tail wagging.
I wrapped my arms tightly around him, burying my face in his fur. I hadn’t seen him in so long. Penelope and Kai had been keeping an eye on him, since I couldn’t leave him alone in that house with Riley and my aunt..
God, I missed him.
Footsteps hurried toward us, and I looked up to see Naomi coming around the corner.
“Tiger, get off her! You’re going to hurt her,” she scolded lightly, grabbing Tiger’s collar and tugging him off me. I couldn’t help laughing as I sat up, still catching my breath.
“It’s okay,” I said, brushing fur off my shirt. “I think I’m already used to it.”
“Of course you are. He’s very affectionate with everyone.
“How is he here?”
“Your friend, she brought him here earlier. She said he hadn’t been eating and his mood was off, so she thought he missed you and asked if she could leave him here. I told her yes, of course. She didn’t come upstairs because she didn’t want to disturb your rest.”
I checked the wall clock. Ten a.m. After last night, I was exhausted and had slept like a dead person.
I reached out and scratched Tiger’s head. He leaned into my palm with a whine. “Thank you, Naomi for taking care of him. And for letting Penelope bring him.”
She shook her head. “It’s no trouble at all.” Then she took my hard gently. “I’m just so happy you’re here, Violet. This place has felt so much brighter with you around.”
Naomi’s face glowed with genuine excitement. It struck me again how much she treated Hades like her own son. “Hades asked me to make you breakfast, since you’re probably a little weak.”
I almost choked.
God. Please tell me he did not tell her why I was weak.

If he did, Naomi didn’t show it. Her expression stayed perfectly innocent.
I cleared my throat. “Where is Hades?”
“Oh, he’s in his study, should I let him know you want to meet him?”
I shook my head. “No, I’ll go myself.”
She nodded. “The study is on the second floor, to the left. I’ll take care of Tiger.”
“Thank you, Naomi.” I turned to the fluffy menace bouncing around my feet. “Be good.”
Tiger barked happily. I couldn’t stop the smile that tugged at my lips.
“I’ll take you on a walk after this, I promise.”
Another excited bark. I finally tore myself away and headed up the stairs.
