Violet stood straight in front of everyone, her posture relaxed, her expression calm to the point it felt insulting. Her eyes drifted lazily around the room, as if she owned the place, as if this wasn’t the most exclusive event of the year.

The lights caught her features perfectly, highlighting her smooth skin, the sharp line of her jaw, the way her black dress hugged her body like it was made just for her. People were staring. No, people were captivated.

My chest tightened painfully.

What is the meaning of this? How could she be here? Why is this bitch here?

No matter where I went, no matter how carefully I planned everything, she always appeared where I didn’t want her to be. It felt like she was following me, like death itself had locked its eyes on me and refused to look away until it claimed me.

The thought made my stomach twist.

The crowd around us began to murmur, voices overlapping with curiosity as they took in the scene.

“What’s going on?” someone asked. “Why are they making a scene in the middle of the party? Who are they?”

“I know that man,” another voice chimed in. “That’s Mr. Moore, the owner of Moore Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in the country. Those two women must be part of his family.”

“And the other woman,” someone added, pointing directly at me, “she came with Mr. Matthew. That must be his girlfriend.”

My spine straightened instinctively at that.

“Then who’s that beautiful lady in the black dress?” another person asked, eyes glued to Violet. “And the young boy with her? I’ve never seen them before.”

“I have no idea but if they’re invited to this party, they must be important. I mean look at her, that dress must cost a fortune.”

The whispers echoed around us, growing louder, pressing in on my ears. Every compliment thrown her way felt like a slap to my face. My nails dug into my palms as heat rushed up my neck.

I scoffed sharply, unable to take it anymore, my face burning with anger.

“Important?” I said loudly, my voice dripping with mockery. “You’re all wrong.”

The room went quiet just enough for people to hear me.

“They’re not important,” I continued, crossing my arms tightly over my chest. “There must be a mistake. There is no way those two were invited to this party. They must have done something to sneak inside.” I

laughed coldly. “Trust me. No matter what you think you’re seeing, people like them would never be invited to an event like this.”

All eyes shifted to me, then back to Violet. I saw the irritation flicker across some faces, it didn’t matter. They believed me. Everyone thought I was Matthew’s girlfriend. I belonged here. Compared to me, Violet was nobody.

Someone muttered, “What is the meaning of this? How could someone uninvited get into Mr. Hades Sinclair’s wedding party?”

“It doesn’t make sense,” another person agreed. “She’s ruining the event for everyone.”

“We should call security,” a voice suggested. “They need to be taken out immediately.”

A slow, satisfied smile spread across my lips. I uncrossed my arms only to fold them again, my confidence returning as I lifted my chin. “Yes. You should call security. This isn’t a place just anyone can enter without permission.”

I looked straight at Violet then, daring her to react.

No matter how calm she looked, no matter how beautiful everyone thought she was, wherever Sinclair stood was my territory. And I was going to make sure she remembered that.

I didn’t want her here.

If she met Matthew, if she opened her mouth even once, she could expose me. She could bring up the evidence, and Matthew would know the truth about me pretending to be sick, about everything I had so carefully built. I wasn’t ready for that. Not when my plan was so close to succeeding.

I needed Matthew to hate Violet so much that even if she shoved the evidence straight into his hands, he wouldn’t believe a single word she said.

He had to doubt her, despise her, and see her as nothing more than a liar who wanted to ruin our relationship.

So Volet being here was a problem. She had to be removed immediately.

Thankfully, it should be easy because I was right, there was no way Violet could legitimately enter this party. Even if she really did have a sugar daddy, even if some older man was backing her up, there was no way he was influential enough to get her into this event.

This was Hades Sinclair’s wedding party. Power like this didn’t open its doors to nobodies.

When I heard someone say they were about to call security, relief washed over me. This would be over soon.

“No.”

The voice cut through the noise, and everyone turned.

Riley’s father, who had been standing there looking just as shocked as the rest of us, finally seemed to snap out of it. He shook his head again, his expression tight.

“No,” he repeated. “They’re my niece and nephew. They are with me. I brought them here.

My smile vanished.

I frowned, irritation flaring.

What the hell was he doing? Was he insane?
